Given the popularity of gag reels on the DVD releases each season of most shows have the PTB's ever elaborated on why there wasn't one on the Season 2 Supergirl release? The other Arrowverse shows all had one included. I found this to be a huge disappointment, as did most fans, and yet there hasn't been any explanation that I am aware of.

Anyone have any information?

My guess is the gag reels would fill an entire DVD/Blu-ray set on their own so the studio is likely holding out until the series is done and when that inevitable "Series" Boxset is finally released, they'll likely include the gags, bloopers, crossover episodes and other BTS stuff. If you plan to buy the physical copy of such a set, expect to shell out big bucks when that happens. :)

Here's a petition someone started:
https://www.change.org/p/the-cw-release-the-supergirl-season-2-gag-reel

If we didn't get a gag reel on the DVD it is very doubtful that a petition is going to get one. They are now full swing, very busy into Season 3, they don't have time to stop and edit something to put on youtube...

HOWEVER, I think as fans we can make sure that there is a gag reel on the Season 3 DVD. :)

I think they've made it clear that they don't really care about fan opinion. We get what they give us and that's that.

Depends on the fans you ask.... If everything is as it looks and sounds for Season 3. Some of the things I've asked for on Twitter were....

1. More Supergirl kicking arse....
2. More Danvers Sisters.....
3. Less totally useless story line when Melissa is gone...
4. Less emo stuff....meaning less couples stuff (which is my big hope)
5. More comic book led stories....
6. More Kevin Smith....

I think the fans of the comics are going to be much happier this year.

I'm good..... :)

Katie said a lot of her bloopers involved swearing. Maybe bleeping them out was too time-consuming/costly?

If that were the case they could have just not had any on the DVD from her scenes. On the Season 1 DVD there was only a couple of Maxwell Lord....and one was no dialogue at all. So I'm doubtful that is the reason....and BTW, they all can cuss like sailors. A TV or Movie set is worse than dock workers on the job.

I think it had more to do with what they actually put in the DVD set itself, which was far more than Season 1, even without the gag reel.

I do believe, however, that they probably learned their lesson, and there will be a gag reel on the Season 3 DVD set.

I'm not all that disappointed in no blooper reel....I was at first and wasn't even going to buy the Blu-ray, but it was bought for me, and I'm happy with what we got on there, especially the "Supergirl Lives" commentary. That alone made up for no blooper reels...it was great hearing Kevin Smith's take on the series and its cool to know just how much he loves this cast and the series, definitely makes me look forward to see more of his directing. I loved the two episodes he directed this past season, and looking forward to more this season.

OMG I just watched "Supergirl Lives" with the commentary, I agree Kelly it more than made up for the lack of gag reel. This episode wasn't my favorite on first viewing but on subsequent viewings has become one of my favorites. Who knew Kevin Smith could go 40 some minutes without a single swear word. It's pretty clear that there's mutual love fest going on between Kevin Smith and everyone involved with the show. As I kinda suspected it seems it wasn't a set in stone plan that Kara and Mon-El would get together but this episode was the tipping point. I do remember thinking when I first watched it that yep they are going for it.

I do think it's a cheap jip that "Duet" isn't included, it's definitely necessary for the plot. Since they asked I have submitted feedback to WB about that. I hope this season since the crossovers are going to be Integral to the plot that all episodes are included in the Blu-Rays of all shows.

I hope they are included on the next season sets. Even if it means an extra disc on every shows sets to accommodate the extra 3 episodes.

I'm also upset with S1 not putting two commentaries recorded for the pilot and world's finest. Now S2 doesn't put bloopers or deleted scenes.

Poor SG really does get the treated poorly with extras. The content isn't as much as other DC shows get. But WB shows dvds are nothing like some other companies do. I'm still amazed that Lost is my all time favorite which has a whole disc devoted to hours of extras more than anything WB puts out for any of their shows.

I will still buy them. But the extras for SG sadly never give enough content than the rest.

"I just wish they would have put on the whole Crossover and Flash "Duet" Episodes or released it on a separate DVD in the United States ,I know I can buy the episodes off Amazon or ITunes but I would like a real release to keep with my Season's of Supergirl"

Yes, I was disappointed especially that "Duet" was not on the DVD. It was an integral part of a 2-episode story (more than 2, really, when you consider that Mon-El and Kara are back together in subsequent episodes). The DVD came with a feedback invite and I intend to sound off on this very point.

As far as the gag reel, S1 DVD had one and it was kind of "meh." I think i watched it once. So that is not a big deal for me.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Season 2 Blu Ray, but I am sure a gag reel would have been a welcome addition.

I am not on social media myself, but I notice that on the affiliated site Melissa Benoist Daily Tumblr that a petition is being made about this. Not sure if it will be successful but perhaps worth a try?

Petitions do little to change the minds of PTB....I'm sure the Season 2 DVD and Blu-ray are selling just fine without a gag reel...

It was disappointing indeed. And they must have heard us so next season Hopefully we will get bloopers again.

Gotham and Supergirl was in fact the only DCTV shows not to recieve bloopers this year. I have no idea Why at all

It's weird. The only complaint they seemed to have listened to is that people wanted more Danvers sisters/more of a s1 feel to the show. Everything else, like the blooper requests, was ignored.
