I have noticed over the past two seasons ever since Supergirl went from CBS to CW that two of the shows series regulars in Mehcad and Jeremy are without legit storylines for their characters these days and that if you take their screentime from the first season and compare it to their screentime in both S2 and S3 it probably has dropped significantly close to 50% combined between the two of them. I mean Winn is just there for comic relief and James is like hit and miss.

To be honest, I am not impressed in how these two characters are being handled over the past two seasons. These two characters on the show deserve better than what has been handed to them lately.

Just saying!!

I haven't really missed James......

Tru Dat.

Mehcad also left Vancouver earlier than everyone else, this year. Makes me wonder...

Thing I miss most about James and Winn in S2 and S3 is Superfriends (Kara, James and Winn) scenes, both collectively (all 3 of them) and individually (Kara and James, Kara and Winn). That was such an enjoyable part of Season 1 and we've seen very little of it subsequently (I did like it bought back in The Faithful episode (4) earlier this season when they attended the cult meeting together). I do like the Winn and James friendship but as it's Kara's show I do prefer to watch her friendship with them.

Here's to hoping that in Season 4 we might return to some decent Superfriends time.

The show was great with Kara, Winn, James, J'onn and Alex friendships but over the last two years that has become an afterthought. In fact that dynamic is completely missing from the show week in and week out. Having meaningful storylines for the cast is another thing that is important.

I think James has had some better scenes recently (as James, not Guardian) than he did earlier in the season. Plus Winn had a good episode in Schott Through the Heart. It's a big cast (maybe too big, as was pointed out), but these are "minor" characters so we shouldn't expect them to have a large amount of screen time. I hope they both stay (Chris too), at least to some extent. However I did see a quote from Mehcad thanking fans for all the support during the last three years, which sounded a little bit like "goodbye". Time will tell, I guess.

I honestly think that since Chris came on the show, he has taken some significant screen time away from both Mehcad and Jeremy.

The show in general is struggling to write good storylines for their characters. And if what we saw in the last two seasons is the best they have in terms of the writing of the show, it's seriously in trouble. Granted it's been renewed for a fourth season, but if it wants to go on further, the writing has to better.

James has never had a good storyline. Period. The Guardian stuff was, by far, the weakest part of season 2. Cruel to say, but I wouldn't mind in the least, if he exited the show. Nothing against Mehcad.

Winn's a hard one. His best story was his crush on Kara. But that was resolved in season 1. Having him work in the DEO has been fun. My only complaint is that we lost the Winn-and-Kara-as-best-friends angle we had in season 1. Lena was put into that spot. Nothing against Katie, either. Frankly, they have a ton of characters and are trying to balance screen time. Kara, Alex, J'onn, Winn, Lena, James, and Mon-El as regulars, with recurring roles for Brainy and Imra.

I would appreciate some more of the Winn/Kara 1-on-1 time we got in season 1. I feel like "Schott through the Heart" would have provided some good opportunity, but it didn't happen.

In my opinion, the best way to get higher quality stories for more of the supporting cast is to trim the cast size. I hate to pick on James, because I have nothing against Mehcad, but they just don't seem to know what they are doing with him since dumping the James/Kara romance. They could stand to lose Mon-El, as well, after this season. I know Chris is great, he's Melissa's boyfriend, and everyone loves working with him. But story wise, I just don't feel there is a lot left for him to do. They did the romance. Great. They did a year of Kara getting over him. Cool. But I don't know how much more of his story there is to tell without hindering Kara's journey. I just don't want another year revolving around the "will-they-won't-they" dynamic.

It may not be popular, but these are my thoughts.

I am talking about solid storylines. The only time we saw Guardian this season was during Crisis On Earth-X where he was killed Dark Arrow.

I have found this article that pretty much sums up that the non-existence Guardian is coming to a close.

I thought James and Winn got quite a bit of screen time in S2 with Guardian story line and Winn's girlfriend, which many people were highly critical of.
Imra: "What about Tommy and Gina? 'You live for the fight when it's all that you've got!'"

Mon El: "Bon Jovi."

Imra: "Or was that all a lie?"

Mon El: "No. He speaks the truth."
