Hi,

Since the news has been made official that Melissa and Chris are expecting their first child, I've decided to open this thread for well-wishers, passers-by and the like to post their thoughts.

Under normal circumstances, Melissa's private life is off limits, but since the news has been made public, reasonable debate and conjecture is permitted.

Since we know the show has a Season 6 ordered, the show is not in jeopardy of being cancelled or put on indefinite hiatus. What we do not know is how it will impact the show and how it may have already done so (see conjecture below).

Kindly post your thoughts below.

Since my recent post have been heavy I thought I’d do one that’s fun and completely non political. When he’s old enough Melissa and Chris can show their son pictures like these ones of his parents in their obviously matching superhero suits. There even a GIF of the two of them “flying” together.

I wouldn't be surprised if she started to get odd cravings...

OT--I know jarred spaghetti sauce is something to use in a pinch. But to an American-Italian like me and having grown up with homemade gravy and learning how to make it from my mom...a jar is just about sacrilege. Either too much salt or sugar.

Other hand...Rao's is a well-known restaurant based in NYC (since 1896!) near the FDR Drive with other spots in Vegas and LA. And their sauce is available at most grocery stores.

If the original IG post wasn’t a big enough clue Chris actually said they’re having a boy.

Side note: Chris likes the same brand and model, New Balance 990s, that I’ve worn for years.

First off...like New Balance sneakers.

Second...looks like Supergirl and Mon-El will be having a "Superboy."

If you watch carefully the latest episode, they seemed to be a bit fond of the actress in head and shoulder shots. However, at some point there will be hopefully be a positive outcome, following which some months will be need for the lead actress to get back in athletic condition for what is a very demanding role.

My thoughts (conjecture, really):

1) Melissa's pregnancy had been known by the cast, crew and executives for a while, thus necessitating a 20-episode season instead of a regular 22-episode one.

2) The suit change is a way to minimise the baby bump and not draw excessive attention to the pregnancy fact.

3) As other have pointed out, many of the flight scenes (wire work and harnesses) this season, have been left to the stunt crews to handle rather than Melissa. Also, the use of stock distance footage may be part of it.

4) Melissa's lessened screen time in certain episodes boils down to two things: Her pregnancy and directorial work. This could be why we're getting more side character-centric episodes than in prior seasons.

Your thoughts?

He even did a black and white variant.

How reliable has Pagey been, historically?

He's been accurate on stuff.I believe he was the one who broke that Tom Ellis(Lucifer) would be appearing in Crisis for example.

If the mid April filming start is true,I think we'll find out via any on location filming.

And I know we'll hear about other renewals and pickups, during up fronts. But I'm really not sure we'll hear about episode counts. I mean...look at the hullabaloo around trying to figure out this season's count.

I guess the May upfronts will be the place to hear official stuff.Considering the big questions surrounding Season 6 now and how Melissa's pregnancy factors in,I can't imagine some of these questions won't be asked by the press or addressed by the network. At the very least,I would think they would reveal if Supergirl is returning in the Fall or Mid-season.They sort of have to since that's where their Fall schedule is announced.

Yesterday I watched the latest TheDCtvshows and Pagey .you tube videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUg6jRjq8FI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC45fSGW0BA

They are both hearing from their sources that while Supergirl season 5 is ending filming a month earlier in another week hence the 20 episode season. They are also hearing that Supergirl season 6 will begin filming in mid April.Yes,next month.

The plan is to film as much as they can before Melissa has to stop than go on a extra long break until November and resume filming then.

So Season 6 would be filming from mid April to June giving them about five episodes according their sources.Than a large hiatus from June until November(normal season filming would of started in July) while Melissa is on her maternity leave. And then resume filming on the rest of the season starting in Novemvber.

Also the season will probably be shorter as well.

I suppose if they are accurate,we'll know mid next month.I'm going to take this with a grain of salt for now though.

Glad this thread is open...well given Melissa is a singer and loves music, well I think I am ready to insert some songs to fit in. Of course I mean songs with "baby" in the title.

May as well start with "Be My Baby", a #2 hit for The Ronnettes in 1963

Next, "Baby Love" The Supremes #1 hit from 1964.

And, from Lady Soul herself, Aretha Franklin (RIP) "[Sweet, Sweet Baby] Since You've Been Gone"

And lastly, a song that was one of the big hits of 1991, a song by former Contemporary Christian star turned pop star for a while Amy Grant and, "Baby, Baby."

It's more than likely I missed a few songs, but these were the ones that popped into my mind.

Again,congratulations to Melissa and Chris.

As I mentioned on the front page,I wouldn't be surprised if in May at the upfronts,The CW announces a Fall launch for Superman & Lois while Supergirl returns for Season 6 mid-season in January like DC Legends Of Tomorrow did this season.

We're still waiting to see if Green Arrow & the Canaries gets picked up but if it is than I could see that paired with Supergirl at mid-season.

So my hypothesis is for the Fall you would have The Flash,DC Legends Of Tomorrow,Batwoman, Black Lightning and the launch of Superman & Lois.

Midseason would have the return Supergirl and launch of Green Arrow & the Canaries

I think if Supergirl is a midseason show than it could be a shorter season.Maybe 13 to 15/16 or 17 episodes.I don't think that's necessarly a bad thing.Yes,it's less episodes but a shorter season allows a tighter storyline with less filler.I think the shorter seasons format has worked very well for Black Lightning,Legends and the final season of Arrow.
