But Sasha Calle...she's a Barbie [Super]Girl. Amazon has an exclusive doll of her as Supergirl from the upcoming The Flash movie.

One item in their description...

Barbie commemorates The Flash movie with a Barbie doll inspired by its courageous heroine Kara Zor-El, also known as… Supergirl!
.

Now, I am not one to complain...but why couldn't Melissa Benoist get this treatment? I mean talk about opportunity lost.

A friend gave me the Rock Candy versions of Melissa’s Supergirl and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as Hanukkah presents a few years ago. I don’t have any other figures and don’t really care for Funko Pop’s, the hugely oversized head doesn’t do it for me.

Very interesting Barbie take on the Flash movie Supergirl. Like you, I have the Funko POP version. Nice detailing. Now, if only Funko would do a proper Rock Candy version of it.

Marketing for a major studio film is likely easier than for a TV show. It has much more of an immediate global reach. Also, the fact that the actor portraying the character is Latina is also a nod to that community. Diversity is the name of the game in today's climate.

The CBS/CW version of the character was a harder sell at the time due to the overall social climate (the T##mp / Covid Years) in the United States / globally and the uneven nature of the show in its later years. Had the show stayed the course set in Season 1 and got renewed on CBS rather than picked up by the CW, things might have been different. But, that's pure pipe-dream speculation and falls in the realm of "What If..."

Fret not though, Melissa's version got the Funko treatment as both a POP and Rock Candy (albeit in limited editions). There were also action figures / dolls as well. There was also a very limited edition LEGO version of the Melissa's portrayal (S5 onward) given out at one of the Comic Cons which is a rare collector's item nowadays.

That's actually a quite nice looking Barbie doll, not that I'll be purchasing it but I may purchase the Funko Pop Supergirl (https://www.amazon.com/Funko-65599/dp/B09V86HPTM/ref=sr_1_1?crid=L18JBCCVYJ9N&keywords=supergirl+pop&qid=1681705779&sprefix=supergirl+pop%2Caps%2C466&sr=8-1) which I quite like.

I've been listening to Aqua just recently (including Barbie Girl), they had some fun Bubblegum Pop Songs and associated videos.
