Mego was a popular toy line in the 1970's and was known for their World's Greatest Super Heroes line of DC and Marvel chacaters . Well back then their Supergirl doll was the one with the ballet slippers and hot pants. The line is back reincarnated by Figures Toy Company. Well I remember Mego myself when it was near the end in the early to mid 1980's, so I am a fan of The Mego Museum which looks at the world of Mego, including those who want to do customized versions of these 8-inch action figures.

As far as I know Figures Toy Company has not come out with any Supergirl TV stuff. But, leave it to someone (From the Mego Museum's weekly newsletter) to take a shot at it.

If you look really carfully, the "S" is just spot on, but a good try nonetheless.

Apparently there was a Helen Slater Supergirl Mego figure made in the 1980's.

I had a peruse through the Mego Museum website and came across this Supergirl figure.


That picture on the left, is more than likely a CUSTOM MADE figure.

On the right is the Supergirl Mego-like figure from Figures Toy Company which I have and is fantastic.

Very nice. I vaguely remember MEGO and other like toy lines from back in the day.

Admittedly, the articulations weren't as complex (e.g. pose-ability, joint movement, etc.) or as elaborate as today, but for generations of children prior to and up to then, it was high tech and must-haves. I'm glad that there is a retro market and a comeback of sorts for such figures.



Indeed there is Rom and Figures Toy Company's are decently priced for the figure. But on the other end of the spectrum is a company Mezco and their award-winning and highly praised One:12 collection of hyper poseable 6 inch figures, which can range from $75 to over $100 depending on what's available. They do have an old school Superman, Henry Cavill and Red Son Supes figures available. As for female figures, they only have two; Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad and Gal Gadot Wonder Woman. Perhaps a couple of years down the line, Supergirl could be offered and MAYBE the TV version.

Until that happens one can only hope the really high end toy company Hot Toys can put out a 1:6 (8-inch) figure of Melissa Benoist with costume and accessories.
