El Mayarah

Sadly, while I love the concept behind the motto, I wince every time I hear it since it was co-opted by a political campaign in 2016.

I thought it was cool that the Clinton Campaign used it. I always had it in the back of my mind that Melissa's conversation with Hillary somehow prompted the use of the phrase for her campaign. I know it didn't, but it would have been cool if it did.

Thanks for posting, Stewart. It's a nice reminder of a great slogan and the essence of this show during these summer doldrums. It certainly brought a smile to my face.

I've just never seen (or heard) it that way.As far as I'm concerned, "El Mayarah" was originally - and will always be - a Supergirl motto, one that is perfectly suited to the character and persona of Kara Zor-El.
A political candidate may have attempted to co-opt it at one point several years ago, but I've never associated it with politics at all. To me, "El Mayarah" belongs exclusively to the Supergirl Team. They originated it, and it's rightfully theirs

What you say is true; it does belong to them, and I place no blame at anyone's feet. It makes for a pithy slogan.

Yes - I guess that is true, isn't it? Actually, I forgot all about that. (It wasn't a big story at the time, as I recall.)
The only thing I ever think of when I when I hear "El Mayarah" is Kara and the Supergirl Team, working together to "crack the case"!

No doubt her supporters, including, I assume, most of the cast and crew would find it cool. And like I said, it's a good slogan.
