CW Fall Schedule Announced This Thursday.

It's understandable. The earliest shows might return to production, here in Vancouver, is late July or August. And that's being very generous. More likely September or October.

By licensing these other shows, they are able to fill their Fall time slots with already-filmed content, and postpone their scripted originals to Winter or Spring premiere dates. It's going to be an interesting season, for sure.

I just hope they move SG to a better timeslot that 9pm timeslot behind weak lead in Batwoman did not help SG at all sadly. It needs to be on at 8 again or put it behind Flash

Frankly, I'm not expecting to see any Arrowverse shows in this announcement. I doubt we will know the schedule on those until we hear what the line up is for mid-season.

Sad as it is, I just don't think shows will be back in production in time to make the Fall line up. Thats why CW is licensing shows from CBS, DC Universe, The UK, and Canada to fill out their time slots.

I expect that most, if not all shows announced for Fall are shows that are already filmed, and have previously been available in other countries, or on other streaming platforms.

BUT...once Supergirl does come back, whenever that may be, you might get your wish. I have a feeling they'll just be trying to fit shows wherever they can, once they are back in production.

Black Lightning films in Georgia. Its possible they could reopen before Vancouver.

I was wondering if they might delay Outpost and Pandora for late summer/early fall.

I would like a Flash/Supergirl pairing at mid season and perhaps a Batwoman/ Black Lightning or Canaries pairing. They would pair better tonally. We will soon see how well Stargirl and Legends pair together.

It looks like the US/Canada border will be closed to nonessential workers until at least June 21st. Canada doesn’t look to be in a hurry to welcome back it’s neighbor to the south.

This is not a personal or petty decision by the politicians or national and local health officials. It was made in conjunction with U.S. officials.

Truth is, this is merely a wise precautionary measure until the Covid-19 numbers drop significantly in the U.S. and the lower numbers in Canada (esp. B.C., which is the destination for the CW shows casts / crews) are consistent and there are only isolated transmissions over a longer period of time. B.C., right now, is in a good position to reopen by that time since their overall rates are consistently low.

The overall Canadian border (depending on the region in question) may reopen in certain parts of the country by that date while Ontario and Quebec (and the neighbouring U.S. states - particularly NY, PA, MI, OH, VT, NH, ME) may remain closed due to high Covid-19 rates in Ontario (esp. Toronto and area) and Quebec (esp. Montreal and area) and their state counterparts. Alberta and their neighbouring U.S. states may open at around the same time Ontario and Quebec do, but that is dependent on Calgary and southern Alberta's numbers going down and staying down.

What people in the U.S. are not overly aware of is the likelihood that cross-border travel by whatever means for leisure travel (land or air) risks creating a spike in case / transmission numbers. Since the U.S. numbers are considerably higher for to a variety of reasons, there is a natural tendency to ask to keep the border shut to non-essential trade / commerce traffic. Rest assured, the personal / pleasure visits will resume, but with stricter admission criteria and border assessment risks. I'd figure that will begin in earnest by early July, barring a potential (or likely) second wave of Covid-19 expected either in June or July or sometime in the fall.

It certainly is best to err on the side of caution.

Here is a link to the rationale why the Canadian border is closed to non-essential cross-border travel and reluctant to re-open quickly. It's certainly not perfect, but it is a safety measure that is subject to change as the fluid nature of the Covid situation evolves.

I'm glad that they are holding off on the Arrowverse shows. I like all together for sure, and I think it is good for the actors as well to have the actors from the other shows around while they are all filming.

My hope is that we are able to get some fun things from the actors such as possible Zoom interviews with the cast etc. I think that would go a long way in keeping their fanbases onboard through this long hiatus.

I think it's still speculation until everyone finally gets up here.

There will still be the mandatory 2 week quarantine once they enter the country. However, production will probably be safer here than in other film hubs in the States. B.C. has managed to flatten the curve pretty well. Less than 200 active cases in the province.

That said, there will obviously still be new protocols in place...it'll be interesting to see what those are.

An interesting change for the casts of these shows, though, is that it probably won't be possible for many of them to fly home on weekends, like they used to. I know Danielle Panabaker, among others, would fly from Vancouver to L.A. every weekend. But with COVID still flying fiercely in the states, and mandatory 2 week quarantines for any inter-country travel, it just doesn't make sense for them to be able to fly back to the states on weekends. Which is interesting, because much like Melissa will, Danielle Panabaker has an infant child, and her husband is probably L.A. based.

I'm really curious how this is going to impact Melissa and Chris, when Supergirl finally resumes production. Melissa has her show here, Chris possibly has shows in New York or L.A., and they will have an infant child... We'll see. None of Chris's projects have been picked up to series except Masters of the Universe, which is voice work that he's probably already recorded the entire season for.

Their personal lives are obviously not our business, but I can't help but think about the logistics. I imagine that, to best suit the family, they will have to focus on a single parent's production at a time. Meaning that, if they want to spend any time together during the season, the 3 family members will have to stay up in Vancouver during the production season.

I really don't envy all of the hurdles involved with starting production. Aside from the obvious changes to the actual productions, these travel restrictions are going to be really hard on American actors working on American productions that film in Canada.

Another possibility is that Season 6 might be an abbreviated one (e.g. 13 episodes instead of a full 20 - 22) and might also be the final one, depending on if Melissa wishes to continue being apart from Chris for prolonged periods of time. She may simply wish to return to the U.S. after Season 6 and focus on Chris' career and child rearing in NY / NJ or CA and work on U.S.-based productions.

Is Melissa still under contract through season 7?I keep hearing she is like Grant is(he was beginning negotioations for season 8 and possibly beyond when the pandemic hit) and Stephen Amell was(he agreed to come back for the short 10 episode season 8 and a big payday).

If she is under contract through season 7,I guess they could decide to release her from her contract or the network and/or showrunners just decide season 6 is the last season anyway.

My hope is that whenever Supergirl ends,it gets a proper ending.That they know enough in advance to give a true series finale.

The best situation is if they know enough in advanced to have a season designed to be a final season like Smallville did and Arrow did.

Can we please stop speculating about what Melissa becoming a parent means for the longevity of show. She’s not the first and won’t be the last lead actor to become a parent during a show’s run. She and Chris will figure out what works best for their family. I’m going to assume the intention wasn’t to suggest that because Melissa is a woman she would want to stop working, once she recovers from childbirth, even temporarily. Please be aware that comments might be read that way especially in an online space where nuance naturally gets lost. For that reason alone, it’s best to refrain from speculating about actors’ personal situations. When actors chose to make public statements that’s IMO fair play for comments. It’s a fact, because she announced it, that Melissa is pregnant and we have a thread to discuss that but speculating on her postpartum career plans is IMO crossing a line. I’m assuming everyone here has the best of intentions so please there’s no need to clarify or even agree, if you do, that won’t add any value to the discussion here.

Everything's pure speculation at this point.

The bottom line is this: The show has to resume shooting either later this year or early next (provided the pandemic doesn't throw a spanner in the works) before any future conclusions regarding the show's overall direction or casual observations about unknown futures can be made.

Melissa's contract might be up for renewal at Season 6 or 7's end but that's not officially known. And, as it pertains to her family life, we'll let to cookie crumble as it will. There's no point in getting people worked up over the unknown. Time will only tell what will happen.

Like you, when the time comes to wrap the show up that the EP's, the network and WB give her and the cast a proper send off. They deserve that much. In my opinion, if they do it after Season 6, it would be fitting in order to end on a somewhat high note. Pushing the show past its natural lifecycle (be it to a 7th, 8th or more seasons) would do it a disservice. But, each viewer has their own preference. Some would like it to go 10 or more seasons (like Smallville, Supernatural, NCIS, Gunsmoke or Days Of Our Lives). In my view - and mine alone - less is more.
