It would be very unlikely at this point. The show is doing very well for the CW (only behind the Flash ratings-wise among the existing superhero shows) and there is plenty more of the SG story to tell.

Don't take rumours as gospel. They're simply rumours until it has been made official by the network one way or another. We've all been down this rumour-mill road before and it usually leads to a dead end and fizzles out. People get worked up over trivial mumblings that have no solid basis in fact.

Unless the head honchos say otherwise, there will be a Season 4 and likely longer. The show is too close to reaching syndication (some point in Season 4) to have it axed. When the show gets to Season 4 and achieves syndication status, the money will really roll in for the network and the studio.

The rumours are circulating because Legends of Tomorrow is sharing Supergirl's Monday evening timeslot for a couple of months (mid-February to mid-April) in order for that show to finish its season. Supergirl will return in April and run until the middle of June.

If anything, I'd be more concerned for Legends Of Tomorrow's future since it will finish its season quite early and also be competing with the Winter Olympics and the NCAA playoffs (March Madness) and other new mid-season TV arrivals. There will also be a new show, Black Lightning, coming to the CW as part of their superhero stable. If that show does well, it might bump LOT off the table.

Expect a Supergirl Season 4 renewal notification to come sometime in January or February.

Would it surprise you to learn that Supergirl could have been cancelled after season 1 or 2? That is always the case for a show. This rumor is bull flop, if there was anything real to be concerned about it I would raise the alarm.

Extremely unlikely. It's high in the ratings and viewership (by CW standards), and it's a season away from getting enough episodes to reach syndication. 3rd season rule indicates it's EXTREMELY likely to get renewed.

People are just overly worried due to the schedule shuffle for the mid-season and forward. In reality, that shuffle is just to give Black Lightning it's best shot, coming after Flash. The extended hiatus is a bummer for fans, but I honestly think it's a good sign, as they have enough confidence in Supergirl and LoT to think that they can survive this shuffle.

EDIT: Also wanted to add this resource. A great site that is updated weekly with renewal/cancellation predictions.

If you click on the latest CW article, you'll see that Supergirl is considered a sure bet for renewal. And that update was published yesterday.

It's updated almost every Tuesday (except during hiatus times).

Geez here we go again.

Let me guess - started by someone who wishes Supergirl is cancelled?

Take a look right here.

TV Grim Reaper

Check week 12.

Supergirl is now "likely renewed" from "100% chance of being renewed" up to week 11.

Supergirl, Flash, Legends and Arrow will all be back for 2018-2019. Beyond that, Arrow and Legends are in more danger than Supergirl.

And as the Cancel Bear loves to say

networks don’t just up and cancel their top-rated shows.

And from the Grim Reaper...

CW shows predicted to be renewed...Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow, Riverdale, Supergirl, Supernatural, The Flash – ratings in the renewal range, no negative issues

So to whoever started these rumors...!basta! Enough!

The rumor is nothing but hogwash started by haters or people who just like making trouble where none exists.

With one of the highest episode counts that a show usually gets (23) and with the ratings Supergirl has gotten I doubt the CW will cancel the show.

For now I am more worried about LOT with the early ending and having to compete with the new superhero show and sports, though I hope it doesn't go away, would miss Sara and her story line.

People who start rumors with no evidence to back it up are just looking to stir the pot of those who are already upset about the schedule change.

If the show didn't die after Season 2 which was faulty in almost every way, it would not die after Season 3 which is great in almost every way.

Syndication may still be a big thing in the U.S. because it will allow WB / CW to sell past season episodes to any / all networks (big or small) wishing to air it. Yet, with the advent of modern technology / media streams and the plethora of viewing options, it may seem like a more traditional formality.

In my view, Supergirl will be a gold mine once it hits the syndication mark because the show does not currently have an enormous same-night viewer base (around 1.5 to 2 million per episode) on the CW, but it seems to punch well above its weight with repeated viewings after the first-run fact.

I am aware that Arrow, which has now exceeded the syndication threshold mark, airs older episodes on Much Music (a Canadian version of MTV) as well as its first-run new episodes on CW / CTV, and that older Big Bang Theory episodes air on our Comedy channels (more than one and repeatedly) virtually every night in addition to the show's new first-run episodes on CBS / CTV. Ditto for the Simpsons on Fox / Global (with older episodes being run on Much Music).

Yes, syndication is still a big thing in the US. After it had 100+ episodes Arrow was picked up by Turner Network Television (TNT). That same network or perhaps SYFY network where the Krypton series with Kara’s grandfather will air would be interested in Supergirl.

Yes, syndication is still huge. Think of all the cable networks that play reruns of shows, during the day. That's syndication. On top of that, with the advent of streaming, getting to that number of episodes also results in more lucrative streaming deals.
