The superfluous relationships in Supergirl are diluting the show. From from previous posts I stay consistent with that point of view. A multiverse relation might be the cure for that.
Alex is in the crossover to Barry's earth for Earth-X. Why? We will find out.
The producers have teased Sara gets a new love interest.
Now the Alex and Maggie have broken up ... what do you think of the writers matching Alex and Sara together as a result of meeting in the crossover this year?
The relationship would occupy two characters but not be in every show for both shows. Supergirl as a show can get back to focusing on Kara. With Mon-El returning, hopefully we will not be back in the soap opera territory. We will see.

Either Alex moves to Earth-1 or Sara moves to Earth-38 for them to be a couple. Or they can go back and forth between their Earths together.

I don't think Alex and Sara will become a couple. I think it's a fun get back in the game fling for Alex. It may be a friends with benefits situation like hay if were in the same universe and not seeing anyone lets hookup.

I thought we already had it confirmed that they were hooking up for a one-nighter, and the BTS of Kara and Alex with Sara walking up is the next morning or something.

I'm thinking no... at least not a serious exclusive relationship.
They are literally from two different worlds. Maybe a one night stand. Or they can have a running gag that Alex and Sara hook up once a year (during the crossover).
I think a yearly hookup is the most we can hope for.

Exactly, Sara is basically the lead character of Legends of Tomorrow by now and so she couldn't do a full time relationship unless they wanted to move Legends to E-38.
I do want to see a smaller mini crossover between Legends and Supergirl like they did for Flash and Supergirl last season though.

I think what Sara might do for Alex, is help her to realize that she needs to find out who she is, what exactly she wants as a single gay woman before she gets into an exclusive relationship again.
One badass gives another one some sage advice. I think it's time for Alex to be her own woman as well as be one of the best things Kara has in her life.

I'm quite happy with how the Alex/Sara relationship was handled. Alex's mini freak-out verses Sara's nonchalance was perfect for each character. I hope we get more chances to see Chyler's comedic talent. Melissa once again nailed it with her facial expressions. I absolutely loved that Kara said "good" after the hook-up is confirmed then assured her sister that she did absolutely nothing wrong. Things were left with a friendly handshake so future hook-ups are not off the table yet neither expects anything but friendship. Alex is in a better frame of mind than before her adventures on Earth-1.

Exactly, I thought it was perfectly done.
As for me, I want a few things in this 2nd half of the season....
1. Both Alex and Kara SINGLE......
2. Far more Supergirl than what we have had, I have loved what we have had, but the show is called Supergirl.....I want far more of Supergirl taking care of business on her own.
