The people at Superman Homepage did a recent online poll about who among these four were visitors' favorite to play Supergirl:
Melissa Benoist
Sasha Calle
Helen Slater
Laura Vandervoort.
And... SURVEY SAYS...
In no surprise, with 46% of the votes, Melissa Benoist topped the list. In at #2 was the first movie Supergirl and later her adopted mom on the TV show, Helen Slater at 27%, close behind is Smallville's Laura Vandervoort, at 22%. And Sasha Calle from "The Flash" movie came in last with 6%.
Will things change after June 2026 when the Supergirl film comes out? Reactions to the trailer have been mixed as have some test screenings I have read about on X about the film.
Melissa deserves the title at the moment since she is the one that served the longest in the role.
Helen is a historical pick for being the first. More for the nostalgia buffs than the current generation.
Laura's portrayal, although not billed as Supergirl (she was simply Kara minus the suit), was good for what it was.
Sasha's portrayal was good for the version that it was but it wasn't her film, so the ranking was lower since she didn't have a great deal of screen time.
Milly's full portrayal is yet to be seen, but provided the upcoming film is watchable and enjoyable, she may climb into the top 3 quickly. If she appears in later Superman, her own films, or upcoming DCU titles (provided we actually get to this point), may move her up the rankings.

Not surprised that Melissa won. She played the role the longest and I think sort of represents the character to most people in the modern age.
