What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way? Well that seems to be the question in the upcoming episode of Supergirl. Quick reminder that next Sunday we are off but episode 413 will air on March 3rd! The Elite will make their debut with Manchester Black, Menagerie and The Hat! Who's going to stand in their way? Supergirl and her "Super Friends". That last part made us laugh! For now, you can check out the trailer for the next all new episode of Supergirl in two weeks, below:

I was joking when asked if it was a M-16. It's looks like Machine Gun Kelly's peacemaker. I wonder if he can use his hat as a weapon like the guy in Gold Finger. That's the first thing I thought of when seeing this guy.
From the distinctive round drum magazine, I think it's a Thompson submachine gun, aka "Tommy gun."
Models of the era were fully automatic; it had a high rate of fire and was
nonetheless pretty accurate. Very dangerous weapon. And unless upgraded significantly or firing customized ammunition, completely useless against Kryptonians.
It fits the 1920-30's gangster style of the character. I think he looks great!
Me, too! (I'm also a physics - and chemistry - teacher.)
"Basically, Superman was originally just stronger (could run faster and jump higher, etc) than an average human. In the Golden Age of comics this was perfect. In the 50's and 60's he became so "over powered" it became ridiculous for the writers to find a villain that could match him. Same with Supergirl."
Well, the original Golden Age Superman was really *much* stronger (and more damage-resistant) than an average human. He could easily lift a car over his head and "leap tall buildings in a single bound". Bullets bounced off him, and it was said that "only a bursting shell could penetrate his skin". (A few years later, Superman could also fly.) With the advent of the Atomic Age and the Space Age, DC Comics seemed to try to make Superman more of a sci-fi publication. So instead of fighting gangsters and mob bosses, he was flying from one planet to another and battling aliens, and his powers increased enormously. In the Silver Age, Superman (and beginning in 1959, Supergirl) were only vulnerable to kryptonite (which apparently came in wide assortment of colors!) , "magic", and alien "super-science".
The Supergirl TV show has apparently attempted to place Kara's powers and abilities somewhere between those of the Golden and Silver Age Superman (though they have been very inconsistent in doing so). For instance, a "bursting shell" (or missile warhead) can't penetrate her skin, but it can put her out of commission momentarily (just a temporary setback). She can't push planets around, but can lift at least 10 tons with no problem. But she can't fly in space, because she needs air to breathe. (Loud, high-pitched sound seems to cause her distress, too.)
As some of you may already be aware, I've written a number of Supergirl fan-fiction screenplays in which I've tried to keep consistently to this power level.
However, most are complaining about the consistency of SuperGirl's powers and in that respect the show does not nail it. It misses terribly. If you are the "most powerful alien in the world" (Episode 10, Suspicious Minds ) then how in the world do you get knocked out by just one punch. What people are asking is for some consistency in the show regarding SuperGirl's powers. It should not be that a newby like Nia saves the day when she didn't even know how to fight before - yet SuperGirl who is all powerful gets defeated very quickly so that Nia saves the day when really it should have been the other way around. The writers should not power down the effectiveness of SuperGirl's powers in order to build up the powers and abilities of a supporting character.
This.
Being fair, I have no problem with Supergirl being on the receiving end of some peril. Especially when it's her first time facing an opponent, like Menagerie. But she should eventually save herself, or retreat to strategize. Not be saved by people with regular guns...or a girl with a pipe (sigh...).
Yeah, I have some serious issues with those as well, but we aren't on TheFlash.tv. ☺
My complaint isn't simply a matter of screentime. Kara had plenty. She was fun to watch, too. Then she put the cape on and wow, it was like she had eaten a big bowl of failure for breakfast.
At least the TITLE CHARACTER here on Supergirl has the most screentime still.
