Well I think we know what the "Of Two Minds" part refers to in the title of episode 316. Pestilence makes her debut and Irma and Supergirl will need to work together to stop her but they both have differing ideas on how to do it. That and with the news that Mon-El and Irma's marriage was arranged, could mean some trouble between Saturn Girl and the Girl of Steel! Check out the synopsis and the what lay in store for Alex and Winn in a major way this episode below:
SUPERGIRL AND IMRA MUST WORK TOGETHER TO STOP THE THIRD WORLDKILLER – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Imra (guest star Amy Jackson) have different ideas on how to stop the third Worldkiller, Pestilence. However, when both Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) are seriously injured by Pestilence, Supergirl and Imra team up to stop the destruction. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#316). Original airdate 4/30/2018.

Since we've had a couple bonding moments between them, I had wondered about Alex throwing herself in front of Winn (or even the other way around), but since they both wind up seriously injured, it seems less likely. Of course, Pestilence could just be that strong.
And yes, this is...complicated. I had been sure that at least part of the reason Alex was so initially vehement towards Purity was to create a dynamic that would haunt her with the realization that her friend, Sam, was an unwilling Wordkiller, too.
I also think it's possible they'll do something where, if Alex and Winn are sick, not physically injured, killing the disease's "creator" might be the only way to save them. That would weigh on all of them.
Reign - breaks her leg, bruises her ribs. Alex has bonded with her daughter.
Purity - Alex causes Purity to take control of Julia, then saves Julia only for her to sacrifice herself for Alex.
Pestilence - almost kills Alex (maybe Alex steps in to protect Winn?).
I would really like some big moment between Alex and one of the Worldkillers in the finale. Could be with Reign cause of the connection through Ruby, and/or Julia.
And if Julia dies (or almost dies), we could get Alex showing some guilt over Julia since she is partially responsible. It would be a very emotional arc for Alex, could serve as a great moment for her to reflect on some of her recklessness and give her some nice character development that isn't about her love life or being a mom.
It's one aspect that the series is doing quite well with this season. Even the paparazzi in Vancouver have been frustrated by the production's lack of location shooting access.
Oh no Alex is going to get hurt by ANOTHER Worldkiller?
Quoting Alex:
It's Unnecessary for people to know lots of things in life but stuff like this gets out all the time and pretty much always in real life so while you may not think it is necessary, it does not mean it won't get out. At my workplace (and I know its not much different for many others) news like this would not stay secret for more than a day so I see it as totally normal for Kara to find out, in fact if she didn't I'd find it more unrealistic.
As for the writing I find its generally gotten better each season. I remember doing lots of face palms and groans in the first season but those are a lot less these days save for a few episodes where I figure the writers have been too far into the bag of pot cookies and things just start to get cheesy and contrived.
Now lets bring on a Supergirl versus Staurn Girl jealousy fueled street fight! (Oh come on I know Im not the only one who'd love to see that lol)
