CW Boss Confident in Supergirl's Future

Many fans had a gut wrenching reaction when they heard that Supergirl would only return for 4 episodes before going back on hiatus to accommodate the remaining episodes of Legends of Tomorrow. While we personally consoled several fans privately, we didn't feel it was necessary to address the unfounded concerns that this was a bad sign for the future of Supergirl. Now, TVline.com is sharing that same positive sentiment from The CW's own President, Mark Pedowitz. Pedowitz states:

We had a moment where they had some production issues, (Ones that predated and were independent of Andrew Kreisberg’s removal as co-showrunner, sources tell TVLine). At the same time, we thought, ‘This is a good place put put Legends,’ knowing that iZombie would go behind it at the end of February. It also allowed us to extend into the summer, to give us more original programming, which is actually a good thing for us. The fans of Supergirl should not be worried in any way, shape or form. We are big believers in the show, and big believers in Melissa [Benoist] and the direction of the show.

So we may not know what the production issues are or were but when the head of the network is saying fans have nothing to worry about, that is pretty solid evidence our Girl of Steel should be around for a long time!

A vote of confidence from a PTB, perhaps. When the show gets its renewal, then I'll know things remain in good, capable and creative hands. Call me overly cautious, but words have to be backed up by action. Give the green light for S4 and all will be a-go. ;-)

I feel the same way. Don't tell me about the pain of production. Show me the BABY!

Well it's nice to hear what I already knew. Seeing that Supergirl is one of the CW's biggest hit shows I was pretty confident it wasn't going away any time soon.
LONG LIVE SUPERGIRL

Supergirl was never in danger. When a show like 100, iZombie ect can run for 5-6 seasons then a hit show like Supergirl should be able to run for 7-8 seasons

After reading your article I am now in a more positive mood in Supergirl getting renewed for future seasons, I have been hoping that the series would get renewed, it would make me very happy especially as my mum passed away just before Xmas, and it put me off watching much telly inc. Supergirl which I have now caught up with and I thought the fight with Reign was superb and was surprised how it ended but I do expect her to eventually to be defeated.

Yipppeeeeeee!!!!!!!! Yes I was one of the ones that was definitely worried. This is the best news I could read this morning. My favorite sentence "The fans of Supergirl should not be worried in any way, shape or form. We are big believers in the show, and big believers in Melissa [Benoist] and the direction of the show." I am such a happy camper this morning. Eric thank you so much for posting this and making alot of SuperGirl fans feel so much better.

Thanks for the update. I'm one that's been around enough on here to know, there was never anything to worry about with the schedule hiatus. Gone are the days where us longtime Supergirltv peeps had to band together biting our nails for months wondering when/if Supergirl was going to make the move to Vancouver or not get picked up. Let's dub those months "The Dark Ages." lol

LOL “The Dark Ages” love it. My manicure is doing just fine at the moment. The network is just finalizing things for a single mass renewal announcement. Riverdale wasn’t officially renewed either.

TheCW isn't going to cancel shows that their leads both win Teen Choice Awards best actors/actresses and nominated for best couple, and win Saturn Awards for best lead actress. I mean, just look... WHAT season of Supernatural are they on now?? Lol
You forgot Supergirl also won the Saturn Award for Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series beating Flash, Arrow, Legion, Gotham, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

That is very good to hear, but of course greedy as I am, the hiatus still makes me sad. Any week without new Supergirl is a sad occasion.
