In an uncharacteristically early announcement, TVline.com has learned that Jesse Rath has been cast as the 12th level intelligence being from the 31st century, Brainiac 5! Fans of the comic books will undoubtedly know that Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes have had a lot of connection throughout the years. Brainiac 5 and Kara especially! Expect to see Brainiac 5 in episode 310 which is titled "The Legion of Superheroes"! Brainiac 5 is described as:
Half computer, half organic life and boasting a 12-level intellect, Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes who travels to National City from the 31st Century to help Supergirl and the DEO battle Reign
With episode 309 being titled Reign and episode 310 now titled "The Legion of Superheroes" we are thinking that Kara is going to get her butt handed to her in her first fight against Reign. With such a strategic loss, the Legion will travel back in time to help her learn to be even stronger and faster than ever before. Of course that is just our thoughts. Brainiac 1 is the Superman Villain, Brainaic 2 is Vril Dox, Brainiac 3 is Lyrl Dox, Brainiac 4 tends to change based on continuity.
That's good to know, I hope he delivers a great version of Brainiac 5.
I think I'm with you on the costumes. I'd like to be surprised. But I'm afraid that if the costumes aren't all that great it'll negatively affect my opinion of the episode.
I agree that it'll be an unrequited type of thing between them. Hopefully it's lighthearted too!

Jesse IMO is a pretty decent actor. I used to watch Defiance and his acting from what I can remember was watchable.
Personally I'd like to wait for the actual episode to see the legion members' outfits. I'm interested to see how they approach Brainy, if they'll go the Indigo route in terms of looks for him.
I for one hope that he's a good actor, the character is certainly interesting, it will be fun to see him interact with the regular cast. I hope they post a sneak preview of the in costume looks of Saturngirl and Brainiac soon since they already gave us a tease for Reign's look.
I suspect it will be more akin to a Barry/Patty thing. I don't think he will become her permanent love interest.
Oh I forgot about Indigo

Given that fact, the introductions might get a bit awkward.
