After last week's episode, fans are dying to know if Supergirl and Alex will be reunited via their memory? How long is it going to take for the truth seeker alien to finish its work and share with the Colonel that no one at the DEO knows who Supergirl really is? If that wasn't enough, we have a HUGE episode for Nia as she learned some crazy things about her family and even her new friend Kara from Cat Co! All in all, the episode had action, drama, heartbreak and comedy! Here's what stood out to us:
- Red Daughter: After some impressive feats, Red Daughter started bleeding from her nose and passed out. The powers seemed to jet from here and across the world enfusing themselves with pills in National City! The user who takes the pill gains powers.
- Road Trip: After Nia can't make it to Harvest Fest, Kara offers to join her and drive her out to her paradise city. During the road trip Nia tells Kara she is trans. She also asks that Kara not tell her family that she has been having dreamer powers. As the raod trip continues, Nia has a dream in the car of her mother in a field with a bed. Her mother drinks something and she turns into a crow.
- Alex Struggles: While Kara is out of town, Alex struggles to find out why people are purchasing the Rage drug. She is starting to feel like she isn't herself. She asks J'onn to come visit to scan her and see if she has her whole mind. J'onn needs to play the part. J'onn and Brainy decide that something the truth seeker did might have left an itch behind to find the truth. J'onn suggests a placebo to help Alex heal from the stress.
- Brainy the Frat Boy: Alex asks that Brainy head into the cell and have the frat boys share their information. Brainy is able to use his "frat boy" language that he learned from the movies to get them to crack in less than two minutes.
- Nia's Mother Passes: After a kind of freak accident, a black widow spider bites Nia's mother and crawls down her leg. She falls into a dream state and shares it with Nia. She tells Nia that she has the fire element with her and that she will be the next dreamer and much stronger than her mother would ever be.
- Children of Liberty Double Cross: The Harvest Festival is turned into a make-shift memorial for Nia's mother. The members of the Children of Liberty take the opportunity to crash the Harvest Fest but not before grabbing the new power rage pills from the two dealers. The group take the pills and turn into rage monsters. The stage is set for the DEO to head to the Harvest Festival as well as the Children of Liberty and the dealer's little sister who wants to get revenge on the Children of Liberty.
- Battle at a Burning Building: Nia is able to use her powers to save her sister at the expense of her sister discovering her secret. The DEO is able to defend the Harvest Festival but at a great cost. With J'onn's ban on lethal weapons removed, Alex was going to possibly shoot an alien who was provoked by the Children of Liberty attack. Supergirl uses her heat vision to stop her but Alex warns Supergirl to never get in her way again.
- Kara Reveals She is Supergirl: Nia's sister calls her "not even a real woman". Nia is so very hurt at what her sister said. Kara decides to share with Nia who she really is and that she knows what it's like to have a sister that doesn't have the powers you do. She takes off her glasses and flies right in front of Nia to show her who she is. Nia is welcomed into Supergirl's family.
In the final wrap-up moments, we get to see Nia look at her suit for the first time. Alex walks into Kara's apartment for movie night after J'onn and Kara just finished talking about how Alex is so different. The two put on a brave face to have a fun movie night with Alex and not discuss work. In the end, we are back in Kasnia where the leader of Red Daughter is looking to speak with someone in America!

This is absolutely true! The range of expressions and nuance in Melisa's acting is one thing that really sets her apart. Another is her attention to little details that make her scenes so authentic and believable. For example, on a second viewing I noticed that when Kara is driving Nia to her home she checks the rearview mirror. Such a little thing, but just one of innumerable examples over the course of the series. An utterly amazing talent!
I definitely feel that Rooski Melissa has a personality even though she does not say much - right now she comes across as a serious, determined, focused individual that wastes no extra words when speaking - sometimes it's the person that says very little that has the most powerful personality.
I totally agree!
I completely agree and speak as one who agrees with most progressive ideas and as a longtime fan of Supergirl (since the "Silver Age"). But for the good of this program Supergirl should be presented as a non-partisan heroine with no more than subtle messages. The lack of subtly and de-emphasis of Supergirl has
hurt the program.
LOL Much as I would love to see it, I doubt the solders are focusing her training on her singing voice. Their loss!
Hold the phone! The Rooski Melissa has no personality because she doesn't talk and we know nothing about how she feels or thinks. I think it would be a fun scene if after the rooski Melissa finished her drills, she could relax and chat while drinking shots of Stolli and belt out a chorus from a Russian tune.
I hear ya! I've been one of the few who has voiced displeasure of the show's direction for a while now. It started for me when they totally screwed up the Mon-el character. I continued to watch the show because Melissa is such a talent. It hurts me to see her act in a show with no creative writing and producers who are incompetent. Sadly, this season may get worse.
