Betty Buckley Returns To Supergirl

While Reign has arguably become the most dangerous and powerful villain in the entire Arrowverse, Samantha Arias is quickly becoming fans most sympathetic character. The way Sam has been integrated into the group dynamic has been extraordinary and Odette Annabelle's performance as Reign, Samantha and especially as Ruby's mom has been award worthy. One particularly powerful performance was when Odette was able to play off of the incredibly talented and beloved actor, Betty Buckley, who played Samantha's adoptive mother in episode 307. The reverse corollaries between the Kent family and the Arias family were spot on and Sam's triumphs in her personal and professional life despite her upbringing were an incredible contrast to the universally known story of the Kent family. It is this reason that we are so excited to share with you that Betty Buckley is officially confirmed to return to Supergirl in episode 318 reprising her role as Patricia Arias airing May 14th, 2018! What brings Sam's adoptive mother back into the picture is anyone's guess, but seeing Betty Buckley back on Supergirl is reason enough to have us excited! We can only hope for more scenes between her and Odette!

According to Variety, the CW is pushing forward with new shows, because the genre shows have presented solid ratings and loyal fan bases... which means, it's an indirect indication that Supergirl and co. will be getting renewed!

Pushing forward with new shows sounds like they’ll be too many shows. And genre meaning like fiction?

Genre meaning Superhero shows, they are opening up for full 7 days, so that is 4 new program hours they will have. Pushing forward simply means putting forth pilots during Upfront in May...doesn't mean they will make it to air.

Well they’re only expanding to six days, still no saturdays so 2 extra program hours a week.

Well, then 2 more hours...I can certainly see that going to the entire weekend....IF they can get independent stations into the mix.

Just trying to drop in a positive note during a dreary winter. In the article, the CW President points out that superhero/genre shows have done well, and just as importantly loyal fan bases that support those shows. Therefore, the CW will continue with the superhero shows for the foreseeable future. Thought an indirect hint that "Supergirl" would be renewed for season four might cheer some people up.

That makes sense.

Glad to see Betty Buckley back. Like Sarah Douglas, Buckley is too good to only be in one episode.

I wonder then, if they know by this point that Sam is Reign and it is Kara and crew seeking out Patricia or if it is Sam? As Ruby's grandmother, it's possible that Sam goes to her for help with Ruby or at least ask her to become more involved in Ruby's life since Sam knows something is wrong with her.

Buckley should have no problem handling a half-Kryptonian granddaughter, she's raised eight kids before ;-)

Eight kids?

She was the step-mom to 8 kids, on the TV series "Eight Is Enough" that ran from 77-81.
