Winn remains! We are in a sweet spot of three episodes with Jeremy Jordan back on Supergirl! Now that his doppleganger has been killed and his reputation has been restored, there must be something that comes up in tonight's all new episode that keeps him around! Of course this could all be building to the 100th episode that is coming up next week! Regardless, here are the items in tonight's episode that stood out to us:
- Toyman Returns: The episode opens with Kara and William singing at the bar on Karaoke night. Meanwhile, Brainy is working on a task for Lex when Lex reveals that he knows Alex is spying on him. Just then, drones from the DEO begin attacking Brainy. Supergirl and team head to the DEO to help where they discover Toyman found a way to become completely digital. He is now in the DEO systems attacking using the DEO against itself.
- A Memory from a Different Time: Supergirl is tasked with flying all the tech out of the DEO but the DEO has been fortified with Kryptonite. Alex is relying on anti-Kryptonite gear to help Kara but that doesn't exist on Earth Prime. Lex aptly points out that this might be a memory from a different Earth. Lex also wants Brainy to steal Toyman's code. That way Lex could live forever in the virtual world. An advantage that he feels Leviathan has and he doesn't. Supergirl and Winn start working through the building to get to the server they think Toyman is. Alex and team start taking apart any smart weapons that could be used against them.
- Winn's Dad: Winn's dad turns up! Turns out the code that digital Winn used also contained 80% of Winn's dad as well. Two Toymen seems like twice the danger. Winn doesn't trust him and Kara uses her powers to destroy the monkeys. Alex checks her access logs and finds Brainy has been looking into her account and she calls him out on it. In the meantime, Lex goes to visit the board director of Obsidian and tells a story of how Lex Corp and Obsidian would do better to be in business together.
- Lex-o-suits: The AI's have found a way to get into Lex-o-suits. It gives them the ability to take physical form and attack the DEO Agents. Supergirl is needed to stop the suits because if they get out the whole internet can be weaponized. While all the agents and Supergirl start fighting the suits, Winn digitizes him to go into the computer. Winn must choose to kill Toyman 1, Toyman 2 or both. Winn finally decides to trust his father and he holds the other Winn down while our Winn enters the kill code.
In the final moments of the episode, Lex calls to get thanks from Lena for getting Andrea to come around. Then we cut to Leviathan who admits Lex did exactly what they wanted. Alex then tells the team she is going to quit the DEO and work with J'onn in the tower. Winn says he needs to go home but he is going to use the moniker Toyman and make it stand for good. Kara then goes to Catco where her lie to William to head to the DEO reminds her that starting a relationship with him is on a lie. She turns him down for date night. Brainy then gives the code to Lex. Brainy has sided with Lex and is made director. We do get a nice couch scene but then Mxyzptlk shows up to offer Kara a choice! Next week is the 100th!

Kara eventually getting married would be awesome. I don't know if it's a question of gender, but it seems that mostly, it's the male heroes that get the girl except maybe Wonder Woman. But Steve died. Superman was always associated with Lois, the love of his life. I think the Supergirl writers are trying the Lois & Clark angle with William. It's hard to compete with this legendary duo though. We'll see if Kara and William fit. I just hope they don't drag the "I'm lying, he doesn't know I'm Supergirl" story.
I liked the Supergirl action, the Superclap to take out all the Flying monkeys was awesome plus I enjoyed her protecting the DEO agents with her cape and hand plus there was some nice uses of her heat vision through the episode. Nice to see.
I love me some Kara and William and the karaoke scene was fun, fun, fun. Felt sorry for Wills when Kara turned him down towards the end of the episode but I hope Kara can be honest with him and they can start a relationship.
Get ready for me to say something bold but I hope before this series ends that Kara gets married, yeah you read me correctly, married. I've watched and enjoyed over the past few years Oliver and Barry find love and get married to Felicity and Iris respectively, that hasn't stopped either of them from being superheroes (Green Arrow and The Flash) so I see no reason the same can't happen to Kara, it would genuinely nice for her and for me as a fan to watch.
1. I agree that there is too much emphasis on Brainy. If he is the head of the DEO and Lex is the owner - that is going to result in more Brainy /Lex time which to be truthful, I am not looking forward to. One good thing is that usually when time is cut it is SuperGirl's time that gets cut. This season that is not true and I am happy about it.
2. I agree that Lena needs to grow up and act like an adult instead of a spoiled brat that didn't get what they wanted. She is a cold killer and then goes about judging others. C'mon writers a child who knows right from wrong could do a better storyline.
3. I am loving seeing the increased presence and action of SuperGirl. I love her new suit and IMO they need to stop going back in the past showing the old suit or people are never going to accept the new one.
4. I too, love the sister scenes of which they can never get enough of. The chemistry between Chyler and Melissa is fantastic.
5. I also feel that Kelly and Alex do not have a good chemistry to be lovers. I agree that they could be good friends. One thing the writers did wrong was moving the relationship between the two, entirely too fast. One minute they just met and then all of sudden they are madly in love with each other - the writers must all be single because they are not getting the flow that goes with a serious relationship correct.
6. So far my favorite seasons are seasons 1 and 5. Even though season 5 has some flaws it still IMO is the closest to season 1. The increase presence of SuperGirl is very front and center. There are more action scenes (which I have always attributed to the new suit's flexibility) and they have increased the display of her powers. You can never go wrong when you increase Melissa's presence.
7. Love that Alex will be working with J'onn - excellent decision.
Apparently, the various shows' writing staffs are confused as well. Post Crisis continuity and rules are a mass of self contradictions.
Perhaps... but it had more viewers against the Grammys and it was preempted in LA that week and had the lowest rated Batwoman episode to date as lead in... I am perplexed that ratings bottomed out on this one. Just weird.
Yes, more Jonn and less Lex would be good, in my opinion. And as much as I adore Jesse Rath and Brainy, I think his presence and his story is yes, déjà vu and a bit overshadowing other characters. He's now the director of the DEO! He's almost in every scenes even with Lex. We barely see Nia (haven't seen her in this episode). At least, I can't complain about Kara/Supergirl's airtime. One thing though, Supergirl saved Andrea 2 weeks ago. Besides Kara and Andrea, we haven't seen the potential of Supergirl and Andrea. I know some people find Andrea (Julie Gonzalo is doing a great job considering) boring but I think she wasn't given anything to do just like Kelly. Before Crisis, at least, Andrea had powers and this story was dropped. Andrea is no Cat Grant but it could be interesting to see a different Andrea, more caring and vulnerable when talking with Supergirl.
I don't understand why the writers give major stories to only some of the regulars and even guest stars but not others. Why promote them at all to regulars?
The return of American Idol might have had something to do with that.
But this whole story with Brainy has an aftertaste of deja vu. At the start of the season, it was Lena who manipulated Kara and now it is Brainy who does the same with Alex.
I like that Alex resigned, I hope that she will stay on the field with why not a new costume. This new situation could make it possible to reduce the scenes of Lex Luthor a little and to put Jonn in the foreground, too much obliterated lately.
For William, it was not really in its place in this episode, I would have liked just a scene between the 4.
I always found that Kelly and Alex didn't go together. However, I would have liked her to be a very good friend. Alex never made friends outside of his sister's friends.
I remain extremely confused since the fusion of the lands. Winn's father is well aware that the other Winn is not his son, but Alex, who should have memories of both worlds, completely forgot that the DEO still had Kryptonite weapons
Yeah I agree with Alex/Kelly. I don't know why they can't write decent romance. Out of all the romances that's been on the show there was only one that had any sort of chemistry and that was Alex/Maggie, but it was poorly written
