So we all know that Covid-19 threw a huge wrench into filming and television production as a whole and continues to do so. One of the resulting outcomes of that was last season being cut short by one episode. Naturally the opening episode this season will feel a lot like a season finale as many of those storylines need to be addressed and wrapped up. That said, reading the synopsis for episode 602, it sounds like the powers that be are instead going to push the envelope even further! We weren't sure if Lex Luthor would still be around after episode 601 but he certainly is and from what we are hearing there is going to be a whole story arc in the first seven episodes that will set up the final 13 like never before. Check out the synopsis below:
THE BREAKING POINT – As the stakes with Lex (Jon Cryer) are raised higher than ever before, Lena (Katie McGrath) must decide how far she is willing to go to stop her brother. Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the team are faced with a challenge unlike anything they’ve ever dealt with before and it brings Alex (Chyler Leigh) to her breaking point. Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Robert Rovner & Jessica Queller and teleplay by Jay Faerber & Jess Kardos (#602). Original airdate 4/6/2021.

That's my thoughts, she came to her senses and did the right thing in the end. Saved Supergirl from Acrata, helping stop Lex and Gamenmae and etc. I think they drug out the Lena drama far too long and alienated fans. I suspect they will put it behind them and simply move on. Lots to do for the final season.
You shouldn't shatter my fragile hopes so early, kdogg87.
My guess? She wont be. They'll just say "she's good now", and she won't face any repercussions.
Perhaps, but The Flash had a 22 episode order last season and ended at 19, so it really had 3 to go.
Supergirl was cut back from 22 to 20, presumably to start filming season 6 early to accomodate Melissa's eventual maternity leave. So it ended only 1 short of its expected finale/ full season.
I think since they reworked the finale, as Jon Cryer eluded to previously, and it was later determined this would be the final season, they decided they would make the most of Lex. It may also allowed then to focus on a Lena/Lex story with less Kara as she returned later than the others and I assume they filmed after-the-facts inserts on these early season episodes. Just my theory.
I was initially not thrilled that they cast Jon Cryer, as he was not age appropriate based on the flashbacks to the childhood of Lena/Lex. But, he really nailed it and Lillian's remark of how the Cancer had aged him, made it plausible... sorta.
Anyway, I personally think more Lex is a bonus, although many will likely disagree. I still think Jordan is the byproduct of Lex manipulating the events of Crisis and he will somewhat be the Conner of S&L, son of both Lex and Clark. So maybe they will transition Lex to S&L for next season.
Anyway, if the early episodes, after the premiere that was mostly filmed pre-Covid, are Melissa lite, I can think of no better focus than the Luthors and the young Danvers sisters.
It sounds like there is a natural break that was created for the hiatus after episode 7.
Regarding some specifics form this synopsis.Lena went pretty damn far to stop Lex at the end of season 4 aka killing him.So what could be beyond that?
A lot of fascinating if vague teases in this synopsis
