The CW Upfronts Report

The CW Upfront presentation was this morning. For those that don't know the Upfronts are a large several day event where networks come to present their products (their shows) to potential advertisers (the commercials) and get them excited for whats to come. A lot of the presentations can include numbers, demographics and business jargon but there is also a component of plot and how cool the story telling is. Because of this, the CW brought several of their superheroes on stage. This included, Caity Lotz, Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, and now Melissa Beniost! Seeing all the heroes on stage was amazing. Here is what we learned from the presentation:

  1. Supergirl remains Monday's at 8pm! We'll be keeping our Super Mondays!
  2. A big four show crossover event is planned for around December! Not many details are being released but since Supergirl starts off the week of superhero themed shows, the mega-event will likely start on Supergirl.
  3. According to The CW President, Mark Pedowitz:
"[Supergirl] should have been [on The Cw] in the first place.”Also according to Variety.com:
CW is projecting that “Supergirl” will be among its top three most-watched series, as it will bring some viewers along from CBS while reaching much deeper into the CW’s younger demos.
  4. The only downer we heard about was that Calista Flockhart's involvement is still uncertain. There may be no change but Mark Pedowitz is quoted saying:
"We’re happy to have her in whatever capacity is worked out."

This is a very exciting time for DC Comics, Supergirl Fans, and Comicbook shows on TV. We seem to really be in that Golden Age of Comics TV. Check out our image gallery of all the Upfront media below:
