A while back we had a few forum posts and comments in the news section where we were trying to find out which episode was the best of Supergirl so far. I suggested that we wait until season 4 was over and that time has come! I've been looking at different ways for us to do this where we cover all choices appropriately. Instead of just listing out all the episodes and giving you one vote, I've decided that we are going to do this in a kind of bracket style. There will be two rounds. The first, we are going to vote on the best FIVE episodes per season. You will get five votes per season and by the end, we will have five episodes from each season that will go up against each other in round 2. Round 2 will begin next week Sunday and you will also get five votes. My thinking for five is because I personally get stuck thinking some are equal with each other. That way you can cover the five that are closest to you. In the end, we'll have the top five episodes of Supergirl so far.
This will be a definitive list. Also, in order to combat security concerns that have happened in the past, visitors to the site won't get a vote. You have to be a member (membership is free and we don't add to you any mailing list or anything). There is no need to comment or explain your vote, you just need to have an account with us so we can confirm that one user gets to vote one turn (five votes per season). So ... without further ado! Let the games begin! If you need a reminder of what happened in an episode, the spoilers section is a perfect place for that. Right now, I haven't put up any season 5 spoilers so it's safe to visit and refresh yourself. Feel free to explain your choices in the comments below (if you wish) as well as try and sway your fellow members! In two weeks we'll have the answer to this very difficult question!
NOTE: You won't see the "vote" button until you've logged in.
Some css changes were made to make this poll work. You might need to refresh cache.

So to preserve the poll result I unpublished the old polls. What I can do is publish all the results when a winner is announced
Season 1: 37%
Season 2: 17%
Season 3: 24%*
Season 4: 22%
*: Almost half from Midvale
Since we've moved on to the second round of voting now, I'm going to rejoin this discussion without feeling like I'm off topic. You say my analysis is flawed because the seasons aren't competing against each other. Well, the episodes are competing against each other and favorite episodes are certainly skewed in favor of season one. Furthermore, now that the top twenty episodes are being polled, (five from each season) three of the top five are from season one.
I wasn't a big fan of the "Luthors" episode, although I understood the need for some backstory. For me, Katie had not yet fully encompassed the character, acting a little lacking when compared to Brenda and Melissa, so it kind of took me out of the moment, in what could have been a top episode for me. HOWEVER, this season she has REALLY IMPRESSED ME, and it seems working with strong actors has increased her acting skills greatly, and has been very enjoyable. My hope is that they give her a greater story than simply Kara's BFF, which has been set up very well with this past season. Really looking forward to the Leviathan story line, and hoping she really takes on a more Amanda Waller type of character.
Quoting Kiwi:
Top 5 would be pretty hard to narrow down quickly. But the tip top? I think I'd have to go with Luthors for the drama, the peek in Lex's facility, and the way it stirred things up. But Favorite Moment would have to be Kara talking down the robber when her arm was broken.
Politely can I ask if comments be kept to talking about best episodes of the series, Bob and Sully were kind enough to respond to my earlier request so hopefully you will also (preferably now in the Part 2 News item), I just find what people's best episodes are to be a more enjoyable read especially when that's what the poll is about.
Discussion on comparison between the seasons should be had in Part 2 where the episodes are competing against each other. Perhaps Eric has a poll in mind which follows this poll of the best or favourite season of the show and it can be discussed there.
Your analysis is rather fatally flawed. Since the seasons aren't competing against each other, comparing the distribution of votes between seasons makes no sense at all. The most you could say is that the quality of Season 4 episodes is more even than previous seasons. That could be because there were so many stand-out episodes that people couldn't decide. It could be they were universally bad.
Most likely it's the opposite of the real factor you cited: this is the most recent season, people can actually remember the episodes, and so vote based on the stories they liked instead of which title has the most recognition value.
For example, I greatly enjoyed 4x20, but ask me in two years if "Will the Real Miss Teschmacher Please Stand Up" was good, and I'll probably just remember the Eve Clones and shrug. As another example, I almost forgot that "For the Girl Who Has Everything" was the black mercy episode - but World's Finest is a great clue-in that it's the crossover.
Overall, for me, the middle of Season 4 was pretty darn lacking, but it was quite a bit better than Season 3 as a whole. You probably disagree and that's fine, but bad statistics won't decide what the majority think.
Season 4's politics actually go deeper than the rest, doing a better job of showing where EarthFirst'ers are coming from. An entire episode, and a good one, dedicated to Lockwood's origin. As a superhero show, the wrong side will end up with true villainy, but it started out rather complex and should be applauded for it.
Quoting RobertAnthony:
ROTFL - "some money"? Captain Marvel is the #2 movie of the year (3rd in the past year to give a full comparison) and the #2 superhero origin story, ever (#1 Black Panther, #3 Wonder Woman). Star Wars VIII made more relative to VII than Empire Strikes Back did to Star Wars. Diversity + Meaningful Storytelling = Ca$h.
You're going to need some new talking points.
