Luthors! February 13th will be a big one for Lena Luthor fans as the twelfth episode of season 2 is all about a frame job on Lena! On top of that, we are going to welcome back Frederick Schmidt as Metallo! Also, much like Arrow, we'll be enjoying some flashbacks that reveal how Lena became a Luthor. The episode is titled Luthors and here's what the synopsis says:
LENA IS ARRESTED – After Metallo (guest star Frederick Schmidt) breaks out of prison and frees Lillian Luthor (guest star Brenda Strong), the police blame Lena (guest star Katie McGrath) for his escape and arrest her. Despite overwhelming evidence, Kara (Melissa Benoist) refuses to believe her friend is guilty and fights to clear Lena’s name. Flashbacks reveal how Lena came to be a Luthor. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) introduces Maggie (Floriana Lima) to the gang. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode written by Robert Rovner and Cindy Lichtman. (#212). Original airdate 2/13/17.

While this may be true on the TV show, Kara did have earlier close friends in the comics (Lena Thorul (aka Lena Luthor), Dick Malverne, Debbie Porter, etc.).
Even in last year's "Adventures of Supergirl" companion comics, it was mentioned that she had a college roommate named Donna, who was presumably a good friend.
As you can see here, Kara was quite upset when Debbie Porter was hurt in a car accident in Action Comics #321 (but don't worry, she came out of it OK):

I can't wait. I love the Kara/Lena dynamic. I'm really hoping the writers will handle this relationship with the complexity and depth it deserves. I really 'need' Kara to have a female BFF who is interesting and can bring out other aspects of Kara's personality. I've always found it very sad that Kara didn't have any close friends before Winn. But that'a a whole other conversation.
'The Luthors' really ought to be a show on it's own. There's so much interesting material to farm. And Katie McGrath would be awesome Lead. I wish Netflix would develop such a series. It needs to be darker than CW shows. Fox would be good too if someone would pitch this. Luthers/Gotham/Lucifer.
So me too. I'll make a point to watch this episode live for sure.
LOL! I may not be a shipper, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the Supercorp tease! They've gotta have the strongest screen chemistry on the entire CW network. Or there wouldn't be a Cat 5 on the horizon!
