Nevertheless She Persisted Recap:

Here we go! This is the biggest event of the season, possibly the series so far! Daxam has invaded Earth, Superman is under some kind of mind control, and Cadmus could be planning on taking advantage of the situation! There are so many questions that were answered and of course, a few new questions that will need to be analyzed! We were delighted to see Tyler Hoechlin return as the Man of Steel, but that wasn't the only thing that stood out to us. Here are the events we'll take a closer look at:

  1. Superman vs Supergirl: Everyone on the social media networks, this site, and in person said there had to be something controlling Superman and as we saw, that was the case! The fight, however, was jaw-dropping! Seeing these two beloved characters go at it was heartbreaking but powerful! Silver Kryptonite made Superman see ZOD! Superman was not holding back no matter what! The battle was intense and fought at full force!
  2. Lillian Luthor the Snake: So in a major moment of weakness for Lena, Lillian sees an opportunity to see if she can't get her daughter to adapt one of Lex's major anti-Kryptonian devices using her trans-mat tech. Lillian certainly strikes at opportune times for herself.
  3. Lex's Box: Well we were wondering what kind of horror the box Lex made would bring to remove Superman and Supergirl from the Earth. Turns out it was an atmosphere particle distributor! The plan is to put lead into the atmosphere that Humans can tolerate, but Daxamites can't. Of course, this would mean Mon-El couldn't stay on Earth. (Fans of our site knew the box Lillian got from Lex's lair would play a part in the finale for a while on our spoilers page)!
  4. Rhea vs Supergirl: The battle between Supergirl and Superman might have shook National City, but this was the main event! The outcome would affect everyone on Earth! How did Rhea get the power one up on Supergirl, Kryptonite poisoning in her blood! Of course, Rhea didn't honor tradition and the city came under attack.
  5. Superman, White Martian Friends, and M'Gann: Couldn't be more epic, Superman working with J'onn, J'onn calling out to M'gann, James seeing Superman fight again! LOVED IT!
  6. Lead Poisoned Atmosphere: It was the only option Kara had, the world needed to be saved and Rhea was never going to be reasonable. There was no honor in Rhea's fight and it took Superman, Martian Manhunter, White Martians, and Miss Martian to just keep the city together while Kara pulled the trigger. Of course this led to ...
  7. Mon-El's Departure: It was an incredibly well-acted scene! Kara gives Mon-El her necklace from Alura and they finally say they love each other only to have to spend life apart, at least for now.
  8. Superman and Kara, Alex and Kara: Kara is broken and her world has stopped with Mon-El leaving, but Superman and Alex were there to comfort her in her despair! It was an awful moment for Kara because she sacrificed her happiness for the sake of everyone. It was no small feat, but she is surrounded by those that love her.
  9. Alex and Maggie are Getting Married: This is huge and so exciting, Maggie smiled and nodded but did she say yes? We assume yes! But just wanting to cover it all, she may not have said it. We, however, believe that is a go and we are dancing in the streets!
  10. Cat Grant Knows!: Not much else to say here except YES! SO PERFECT!

Finally, Rain, or Reign, or R'ain? No idea. But a third Kryptonian survived the destruction of the planet? This sets up season 3 for some epic storylines!

I never understood why some people can get so het up comic book characters, especial Supergirl vs Superman. Personally, I am perfectly happy with the idea that Supergirl is stronger than Superman, plus it makes sense in relation to the evolution of Mellissa’s version of the character. She started early season one trying to measure up to Superman, now he admits she’s out classed him.

You make a very interesting point, that if you don’t mind I’d like to play devil’s advocate with.
We are assuming Krytonian life works on the same premise as Human’s. That while it has been established that “Kryptonian genetics are not like ours”, they still have something that looks like what we would call DNA, along with Chromosomes and Genes, but what if their “DNA” is something else, similar enough to assume the term DNA but something that works completely differently, using something other than Chromosomes and Genes as we know them on Earth?

Quoting Captain Past:
The genes for solar power extraction are on the X chromosome, of which Superman has one and Supergirl has two. The relevant analogy is pink and red flowers as studied by Mendel. All copies of the gene are active, so Superman gets one set of collector whatever (the pink flowers) and Supergirl gets twice as many (the red flowers), so she is faster and stronger than Superman.

Part 2
I think Cat already has let Kara know, although very subtly. In “Resist” Cat tells Supergirl about her year in Bhutan. In “Nevertheless, She Persisted”, Cat referring to Kara’s Button up blouse, says “Accept of course you won’t be wearing the Bhutan’s”. Kara’s reaction is as though she realises Cat knows and accepts it this time.
I think she also knows Clark is Superman. In “Nevertheless, She Persisted” Cat complemented Clarks eyes and referred to him taking off his glasses.
Quoting Emsmomm:

I think Cat has always known about Kara being Supergirl and the day's events just confirmed it for her but I don't think she will let Kara know.....her secret will be safe.

Part 1
Cat figured out Kara was Supergirl in “Hostile Takeover”, yes she was thrown of scent by Martian Manhunters impersonation in “Blood Bonds”, but that does not appear to have lasted long.
It’s unclear what she know in “For the girl who has everything” due to her temporary animosity over Kara’s Breakup with Adam.
Then there is Cat observing Winn’s connection to Supergirl, possibly wondering why a random staff member has that connection. In “Falling” she knew Win and James were trying to find a way to help Supergirl recover, meanwhile she noted Kara was simultaneously behaving oddly.
In “World’s Finest” and “Resist” she showed Superhero’s can’t hide their true identity from her.
Throughout the first Season Alex has multiple visits to Kara’s desk at CatCo, just outside Cat’s glass walled office. Then meets Alex at the recording studio in “Better Angels”
Cat interrupts Kara talking to ‘Agent Munroe’ (J'onn J'onzz) in “livewire”, then sees him again at the recording studio in “Better Angels”.
In “Myriad” Cat see’s Supergirl refer not only to Winn by name but also to Kelly as though she’d been friends with Kelly for a long time.
She clearly had enough observation to refigure it out after being thrown of scent.

That’s one thing I am amazed at, I am one of those that liked Batman Vs Superman in general but I felt disappointed that with a blockbuster movie budget, the huge build-up to a fight, lead to almost nothing.
On the other hand the Supergirl Vs Superman fight was executed way, way better and it far outclassed the Movie fight while only on a TV Budget for one episode. It was jaw dropping.

Quoting vantheman77:

The super fight between Superman and Supergirl was a good one. Of course Supergirl beat Superman because it was her own show, but this was more believable than the Superman/ Batman fight from Dawn of Justice.

In Superman, Batman Apocolipse, Kara is described as having a more dense molecular structure. It’s been hinted at in the comic too that she is stronger. Although it has never been made clear as Superman often holds back.
Quoting Captain Past:
Quoting E.T.:
Why can't Kara ever get a break? Now I'm going to be depressed all summer. Hoping Lena will create an antidote so her best friend can get her boyfriend back. Except he might have been sucked into the Phantom Zone...
Agree that it makes no sense for Kara to have beaten Kal, unless the silver kryptonite was weakening him and he just didn't realize it.

It made sense. Uppercut to the jaw, I think.

When I see Superman and Supergirl fight, I'd imagine what it would be like if the movie Superman and Wonder Woman battled each other.

Superb explanation Brandtm2. And there's no reason why both cannot be correct.

Readers complaining about Supergirl beating Superman, and unsatisfied with the inflexible law of nature that the hero is always best when in their own book, might consider a genetic explanation. While we know from episode S1-1 that Kryptonian genetics are not like ours, I will phrase the explanation in human terms. The genes for solar power extraction are on the X chromosome, of which Superman has one and Supergirl has two. The relevant analogy is pink and red flowers as studied by Mendel. That's a very interesting :Nature" explanation of the fight. If I may give a "Nurture" explanation, let's not forget (as I did in my earlier note) that Supergirl had the benefit of training from Alex. On the other hand I don't believe that Superman's foster family the Kents despite their fine qualities had a martial arts expert like Alex. So you give a big edge in fighting know how to Supergirl.

And it was in 1982, the year when The Daring New Adventures of Supergirl came out. It was the series, shortened to Supergirl where Linda Danvers SG outfit went from the blouse and hot pants to blue top and red skirt with shoulderpads, later a headband...just an observation.

And I think it is Reign who will be the big baddie in season 3.

Because of the action and drama and amazing special effects and Supergirl kicking a$$...this show rates a 10+! The plus comes from that Wonder Woman tie-in video, just the right amount of cheeky fun.

Season awards...

Fave villain...Roulette, sexy, sadistic and Dichen also showed love to the fans for her portrayl...RESPECT.

Fave new character...TOO EASY...Lena. Katie McGrath is AWESOME and I am so glad she is back next season.

Least fave new character...Snapper...underutilized.

Hated villians...Lilian and Rhea...goes without saying.

Despite this slam bang ending, this season was a disappointment to me, aside from going progressive. What was going to be a C- season ends as a C+ thanks to eps like this and "Alex." I gave season one a B+. Average the 2 grades and you get...a "B." Still solid, but a downgrade nevertheless.

I hope relations and politics get cranked down for S3.
