I think I have to agree with Jordan on this. I still believe her closing chess scene was meant to lead us to believe she's being secretly nefarious. When in reality, I think it was demonstrating she can be just as formidable as her brother and mother, but to go AGAINST them...not WITH them. Now, perhaps her Luthor side keeps her in the gray area, but that, I think is what makes her such an interesting character. In fact, she's definitely my fAvorite of the newbs.
It's weird that they haven't really interacted this season (really why have they kept Alex and Kara's arcs so isolated from each other this season?) being that Lena's mom leads Cadmus and Alex's dad has been their hostage/forced accomplice for over 10 years. Lena has never felt like she was enough for her family (always trying to be perfect and win her mothers approval) and that is exactly Alex's emotional struggle since season 1 (to a slightly lesser degree). Lena is a scientist (engineer?) and Alex is a bio-engineer.
I don't know if they'll go evil with Lena or not but I think a morally grey Lena would be more interesting than a full blown villain. She can still be good without being purely good, you know? But whatever they chose I just really want them to decide by the end of the season, I don't want them playing the is she good or bad game anymore.
The whole point of this season, and of Lena's character, is that she's not like her brother and her mother. If she did become a villain, that would be very very lazy writing, especially when we have characters like mon el and m'gann who have proven they are different from their cultures. (Mon el changing is debatable, but that's another discussion) Lena is supposed to have a 'series long arc' about being a friend vs foe. Having her be the villain of s3 would be majorly jumping the shark.
And I like James, but either he is given a decent, major role in Season 3 or he just goes. I think the character has been treated crappy by the show for this season.
Did I mention SC? I just said that I enjoy Katie's scenes with Melissa. There's no need to be rude. As for Lena being evil, we'll see, but I'd like to believe that she proves a point by being different. That's what this season is all about, after all. Being better than where you came from.
I hope if the reveal happens it's more along the lines of Cat Grant... A long process, rather than telling her like with Lucy, and NOT like Maggie just easily figuring it out. I hate that the mystery of it keeps being given up quite easily.
200%?!...HOLY SUPER CONFIDENCE, KELLY! But...you think someday, if not later this season but perhaps early next, Kara may have to reveal her dual identity to Lena? I mean Maggie as she IS a detective seems to know.
