Its such a minor blurb but we committed to giving you all the news. Laura Benanti talked with Entertainment Weekly about all three of her characters on TV. Laura mentioned her roles on Nashville and The Goodwife at a bit more length before getting into Supergirl. You can read the whole interview here, but we grabbed the Supergirl portion below:
As if you didn’t have enough on your plate, you were recently cast in CBS’ Supergirl as Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) Kryptonian mother. What can you say about that project?
It’s very early on, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying anything other than our mere nine-year age difference will make sense. On Krypton age doesn’t necessarily matter. A lot of people on Twitter were like, “She’s too young to be her mom!” But it will all make sense once you see the show.
Obviously, us Supergirl fans have easily figured out why the age difference is of no consequence but we can imagine how that might haunt a gorgeous woman like Laura Benanti who is only 35.
