"Sanvers" is undeniably a relationship that has provided many MANY fans with a narrative that they can relate to as well as be a positive force for countless others to explore their own sexuality. The "Sanvers" relationship has changed many lives and is regarded very highly among several communities. With the announcement that Floriana Lima is being reduced to a recurring character and not a series regular like last season, many fans are asking, what is in store for the "Sanvers" relationship. Notably, many gay, trans or bisexual characters in mainstream entertainment have been killed off for various reasons. Supergirl's network companion show "The 100" falls into this troupe quite exceptionally. So fans are certainly justified in wondering what is in store for Maggie Sawyer and Alex Danvers. The most important person who could weigh in on this issue actually has today (show Executive Producer and Principal of Berlanti Studios, Gerg Berlanti) at the TCA event, via entertainment weekly: responding to the question of if the Sanvers relationship would have a lessor presence in season 3:
I don’t think so. If any character people love is not there as much as they want them there, they’re going to be upset that they’re not. For my perspective, I’d say we will use her as much as we can. I don’t want to say too much about the story aspects of it, but we got into it wanting to tell the story of Alex because she was a lead on the show and no matter what, we want to continue exploring Alex’s romantic life. We get to do it in as much as actors want to come play and work with us as much as we can. It’s obviously been a really successful element of the show. We love telling the stories.
Berlanti went on to comment on the nature of the television and acting business by saying:
It’s so hard in this business to get everybody swimming in the same direction. We’re very blessed with that story line and actors involved with it, and the audience enjoyment of it. You never want to see those things go away, so we’ll see what happens. I think [Floriana is] wonderful on the show, and she’s got some real ardent fans, and she should. Of course we wanted more of her, but she’s got other things in the hopper and other things she wants to consider. We’d love to have her back as much as possible.
We don't think there is an appropriate analysis we can provide via Greg's comments but the one thing that is consistent is that Floriana is welcome to appear on the show AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE via her schedule! Both Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner have echoed these sentiments (we can personally attest to). While no amount of assurance is going to sway fans than if Floriana was a series regular again this season, the showrunners are certainly looking to honor that relationship as much as possible.

I agree with everything you said. Too much romance, too much Mon-el and definitely more Danvers sisters.
As for the romances, as I mentioned before I wish they would tone down on the romance aspect and that includes Alex/Maggie and Kara/MonEl. When the romance starts to overshadow the action/villain storyline then it's too much. This is not a soap opera this is an action show.
Also, if seeing Maggie or MonEl constantly means that scenes we might see between Kara and her sister Alex are cut short or not seen at all (i.e. Exodus, Homecoming) - then again, I'd rather see the scenes betweeen Supergirl and Alex.
All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing season 3 and hopefully another early announcement (like last season) of a season 4.
Must be why the show was nominated for a GLAAD Award last season....and the storyline developed a rabid following of its own, of course. :)
If anything, I think Berlanti's comments inadvertently reveal an aspect of the show that some keep overlooking, because they derive from his appearance at a TCA panel discussion for another show entirely. There was no Supergirl TCA presentation, outside of Mark Pedowitz announcing next season's crossover....meaning that the show is still generating heat without any promotional effort at all.
This is what I think too.
Anyways, let us see what happens. It was interesting to here Alex being called a lead though.
May be they will just play it as Maggie being in the background as Alex' wife or fiance. Or, may be they will have them break up and Alex dating someone else.
What does "Modern" mean anyways in terms of romantic relationships? It is the one other thing I have heard so many times w.r.t Alex and Maggie this season.
(And I keep thinking of Cat's comment to Clark. :) )
