Kara is back from the Phantom Zone and her father has returned to Argo City to face his fears and speak with his wife Alura! Kara isn't 100% though, her time in the Phantom Zone has been a very traumatic one and she'll need to deal with those feelings if she is going to keep being National City's protector! Escaping the Phantom Zone wasn't just team Supergirl and Zor-El, the 5th dimensional imp, Nyxly also made it out and from last week, we know she is reaching out to Dreamer! Could she need Dreamer's help to be fully in our world or is she just playing with Nia? All that revealed and more in our new Supergirl episode tonight! Here's what stood out to us:
- Dreamer in Dream World: We open with Nia in her dream seeking to find her mother. She is unsuccessful but Nyxly is there to observe. We jump to game night. Kelly and Alex have moved in together. CatCo is still seeking all information on The Superfriends. CatCo's coverage of the Superfriends has lifted the magazine to third in the country. William and Kara are tasked to get an interview on the record with any of the Superfriends. J'onn calls Supergirl to investigate a truck theft. Two alien races are working together to possibly build a bomb. The aliens can bend metal with their minds and emit a substance that turns things invisible.
- Kelly's New Job: Joey believes that his brother is using his powers too much and might die while he is in jail. Kelly takes the news to team Supergirl. Kara did a story on the jail's work release program and she'll be able to get Kelly in to talk with the warden. Alex and J'onn work on the truck theft case. Nia continues to hunt for her mother in her dreams but it turns out Nyxly is there. She is stuck in the dream realm. Nyxly needs Nia to manifest her in the real world. If Nia is able to do this, Nyxly offers to bring her mother back for one day. Any longer is impossible. Kara and Kelly head to the prison were the warden assures them there isn't anything wrong. Kara and Kelly see that Orlando is already headed to his job and Kara follows. It turns out that the work release program is using aliens to build a dirty nuke bomb. J'onn and Supergirl happen to arrive now seeing the cases are connected.
- Unknown Forces: It isn't clear who is pulling the strings on the aliens but it isn't their doing to build this bomb. Kara heads to the prison to alert the warden that his system isn't working and corruption is at hand. The warden doesn't seem able to accept the truth furthering Kara's concern. In the dream world, a talking owl tries to give Nia the truth but Nyxly tries desperately to manipulate Nia into helping her.
- Gossip News vs Real News: Kara and William didn't go get the scoop on the Superfriends but continued to pursue the prison story. Kara doesn't care about the ratings for the paper but Andrea notes that if Catco doesn't have eyes on it, there is no paper and she believes The Superfriends will get the eyes they need. The more Kara and William dig, the more Kara discovers on the warden. Turns out the warden is being paid off. Bruno Manheim and his Intergang are revealed to be the culprit!
- Kelly the Vigilante: Kelly goes to get the footage of the mistreated boy at the foster home. Kara gets a lead on the prisoners and J'onn and Kara head to free them. They stop the prison guards but the prisoners choose to run and not be taken back. As the aliens try to bring down the building J'onn holds it up and Kara speaks to Orlando asking him to do the right thing. Kara is able to get through to them and she becomes their advocate.
In the final wrap up moments, William speaks with Supergirl on site for CatCo. She is able to spread their message and advocate to the audience on the prisoner's behalf. Kelly gets the abusive foster mom arrested and reunites Orlando with his brother. Having made an impact, Kelly wants to work outside of the system and takes up The Guardian mantle like her brother. Still struggling to find her mom, Nia agrees to help Nyxly and manifest her in the real world.

The show is called SUPERGIRL fans watch for Kara and Supergirl and the superhero action. A side character like Lena has no baring on the ratings at all. She is just there the show do not have more or less viewers because of her on the cast.
- that's called 'settling'
She definitely has been a great asset to the show. No doubt about it. Katie is such an incredibly gifted actress. She brings much needed charisma to the show, hands down. She cant be blamed for poor ratings, it was expected being swapped from CBS to CW, and other factors.
Big sigh of relief Im sure.
I think Katie must feel a big sigh of relieve not to be chosen for the crossover event.
I love the show and will continue to love Kara/SuperGirl and Lena. Thats my choice, not yours so get over it
No. I love the show, I love the characters outside of Lena. I really liked particularly the Lena free episodes, like the young Danvers sisters one. I think Kara has amazing loving friendships with Brainy and Nia (and of course Alex, but Alex in the end is no contest to anybody). I think she forged a more meaningful relationship with Kate Kane in a crossover than the self centered friendship with Lena. I even like William and Kara getting to do reporter bonding.
I thought Kara and Cat Grant had an amazing, deep, meaningful, well written friendship that Lena can't even dream about.
You are the one bashing episodes and attacking people just because it didn't have Lena in it. Well, for me the show is not about Lena. Supergirl still shines through brightly even in episodes that don't have her in it. And a lot of the time, I would argue even more.
I think the writers having been trying to square the circle of still trying to keep Lena around because of the actresses popularity but not letting her ruin the show. They haven't always been able to stick the landing, but they have my sympathies. This is the last season of the show, and I think it makes sense that they want to revisit all the aspects of Supergir and all the things they care about (and that includes social justice topics). It's uneven sometimes, but imo it's way preferable to yet another Lena centric season. Lena had her season. Now it's time to also let other people shine.
I love the show, period
You obviously are not a fan with thinking you could write it better, know what should or shouldnt happen
Thats being a know it all. Which, sorry, you arent
Now you blame Lena, one person for all the problems with the show
Wow.. no words
You do know this is just an entertaining tv show. Dont you?
You are hilarious how you judge and give advice but dont take it
I just voiced an OPINION. but you
You actually think you know it all but you dont
And popularity is very relative. Supergirl gets what, less than a milion viewer these days? out of what 320 million americans? Actually popular shows get 10, 20 million viewers. Supergirl is a very niche show. So even if everybody loved Lena (which not everybody does), that is still not that popular in the grande scheme of things. If Lena was so amazingly popular then the show wouldn't have struggled to get 1 million viewers, if Lena was that popular they would already be setting up a Lena spinoff, then Lena would be the the character to guest star on Flash, not Alex.
Obviously the CW thinks it can do without a Lena spinoff. Obviously the Flash and all the other Arrowverse crossovers preferred having Alex cross over to their shows and not Lena. And yes, obviously sometimes the writers think having an episode on their black lesbian future superhero is more important than doing yet another Lena episode. Maybe just maybe they have also grown a bit tired of Lena after season 5. I know I have.
You do know that right?
Its so comical you are like this
