Dean Cain's Superman Advice

Dean Cain, of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" fame and Kara's father Jeremiah Danvers on Supergirl, sat down with Access Hollywood to talk about the new blood joining the Supergirl show and gave some advice to Tyler Hoechlin. First Dean confirmed he'll be continuing his work on Supergirl this season reprising his role as Jeremiah Danvers, the human adoptive father of Kara Zor-El and true father to Alex Danvers.

The show is moving up to Vancouver now -- it's on The CW instead of CBS, and that means I get to go up to Vancouver a couple times and maybe do some interesting stuff. We'll see, we'll see. This [season] will be an interesting year.

When asked about Lynda Carter joining the show part time as The President of the United States, Dean said:

I love the fact that Lynda Carter's coming back to play the President. That's going to be really interesting too. So check it out.

Dean is no stranger to the pressures of portraying a live action version of America's first and greatest superhero, Superman. He had this to say about Tyler Hoechlin taking up the mantle:

Well, first of all, I'm a little disappointed it wasn't me. I wanted to play two roles (he said jokingly). No, Tyler -- my first piece of advice for Tyler is -- because he seems a little more hairy than me -- is that he's going to have to wax his chest. … You can't have any hair peeking out over that 'S' there, but he gets to play it for a couple, I think maybe 2 episodes or 3 episodes.

Dean went on to wish Tyler luck and said:

Work out, stay fit. It's pretty cool [though] I don't mind that there's new Supermen all the time. It's a good thing.

Finally, Dean couldn't let the interview end without singing Melissa Benoist's praises:

She is so good. She is fantastic!

Dean is such a cool guy. He is gracious and has handled the Superman lore and fandom with grace and humility. Let us know what you think of his thoughts in the comments below and the forum. Also help us keep Supergirl.tv advertisement free and visit our support page!
