According to TVline.com, Tawny Cypress, known for her role on Unforgettable, is joining the cast as a guest-star playing the character of Miranda Crane. Miranda Crane is an alien hating Senator who comes to National City to peddling her anti-alien beliefs and garner votes. Senator Crane story arch:
... Finds herself on the other side of the issue when her visit to National City is interrupted by an alien attack, forcing her to possibly accept help from an extraterrestrial — Supergirl.
With this announcement of Tawny Cypress taking the role of the Senator, its pretty clear that Supergirl show runners are introducing an anti-alien element to the show. This seems pretty interesting and does parallel the Batman v. Superman story somewhat. Having an anti-alien force adds good conflict. Heck Supergirl's team is the DEO and they are all anti-alien. Good drama to come!
