Series Pickup Aftermath

Tweets were favorited and retweeted late into the night last night. It was a great day for superhero fans as Supergirl was officially picked up by CBS for series. We were able to get you a good number of the cast and crew's reactions as they happened but now that we've had a good 24 hours since the announcement, here are a few more:

In other news, IMDB.com has added another new character to their cast of the pilot. This time its Briana Venskus playing the role of Vasquez. Our initial research into Vasquez didn't reveal any DC Comics connection. Since we know the pilot was already filmed, its safe to assume that her scenes have already been shot. We'll leave you to speculate who this new character could be.

Shared Arrow/Flash Universe:

Finally, we've noticed a few sources running with the claim that Supergirl will exist in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash. This isn't entirely correct. What is correct is that Greg Berlanti wrote Supergirl (with Ali Adler) in a way that Supergirl could exist in the Arrow/Flash universe. That's a great and necessary first step but Supergirl can easily exist in her own tv universe as the plot for more episodes are written. There are many pieces that need to come together to have that shared universe. Granted, having CBS own half of the CW and Warner Brothers (who owns the DC comics properties) owning the other half of the CW, the odds of this happening go up. But you have to remember that CBS' Nina Tassler will have to want it to happen, CW will want to have it happen, Warner Brothers will want to have it happen and all the people and pieces between those companies. So in the mean time, fans can celebrate that Supergirl is finally official and we can all huddle together and hope there may be a crossover in the future.

We want to hear your opinions, who do you think Vasquez could be? Is she going to be a big deal or stay a minor character? Lets us know your thoughts in our comments section or our kick butt fan forum!
