Episode 17 Recap

We've known that Supergirl was going to do a recap episode that explained how and why J'onn J'onzz became Hank Henshaw for a while and we've been sitting on our hands excited for it since! That episode was tonight! A lot had to be covered, from Kara and the repercussions of her actions last episode, the reveal of the Martian Manhunter to the world, and possibly best of all, the return of Dean Cain as Jeremiah Danvers! Here's what stood out the most to us:

  1. J'onn J'onzz gets his cookie: Ever since episode 7, when it was revealed that Hank Henshaw was actually J'onn J'onzz we've been waiting for him to get his signature snack! This had us smiling instantly!
  2. Jeremiah Danvers Passing: This was INTENSE, my goodness. That last moment where he asks J'onn J'onzz to take care of his girls. Tears! But having a human protect J'onn was pretty moving. That must have lead him to honor Jeremiah's last request!
  3. Alex Danvers Bad Girl: This was hilarious to see. Seems like Red Kryptonite to humans is alcohol. The dancing, raving, drinking and partying, very not like the Alex Danvers we know and love.

  4. Project CADMUS: Oh this made us jump out of our seats. We knew Andrew Kreisberg said he wanted to incorporate CADMUS into the 17th episode and having the Guardian aka Harper (who was kind of a jerk up to this point) take J'onn and Alex back to CADMUS was just perfect homage to comic book fans.
  5. Young Kara saving the Car Accident: This was just the coolest thing to see. It showed that Kara was a hero to begin with. When she hears someone that is in trouble, she has to act. Also seeing a 13 year old girl tear the door off a car is pretty dang incredible!
  6. Kara Uses her Powers to see Cat's Needs: Watching Kara get the job at Catco in the flashback has us rolling on the floor! First she bumps into Winn and nearly takes off his hand, then she focuses so hard on trying to be normal, she falls perfectly into what Cat Grant is looking for. She takes it home with the x-ray vision and prescription peek!
  7. Dark Motorcycle Covert Ops Supergirl: Seeing Lucy and Kara work together to free Hank and Alex was the power duo we didn't think we were going to see! It makes sense though, Kara can't wear her Supergirl suit to commit a, more or less, illegal act. The producers have always said that Lucy and Kara were friends and while we took that to be true this was a great example of them actually backing each other up. It was pretty powerful of Lucy to stand up for Supergirl and Hank. This shows the caliber of person she is.
  8. Jeremiah Danvers is Alive!: This was a total curve ball! We wanted more Dean Cain so bad and were thinking that we were going to have to settle on flashbacks only but now, hearing that he is alive! Wahh, this was our keyboard slam moment of the episode! Now the possibilities are way open!
  9. Lucy Lane takes over the D.E.O.: Firstly, for this to happen, J'onn and Alex are gone from the D.E.O. That makes us feel so sad. They were basically that whole organization. Something is going to have to happen to get them back eventually. This really set us up for the finale, things are moving into place. That said, the way Lucy handled herself in this episode makes us totally happy she is in charge of the D.E.O. now. Way to go Lucy!

  10. Siobhan Discovers her Powers as Silver Banshee: Well, well, well. It's about time miss Smythe. Looks like the gloves are coming off for this one! Considering how things are between her and Winn, we don't think Winn is going to be very safe either.
