Lex Luthor eventually had to go toe to toe with Superman in a fight that would make Lex at least if not more powerful than Superman. The lexo-suit was born! Now, imagine the power that a 5th dimensional imp is going to have even with waning magical powers and the full power of the lexo-suit! With the hope totem not destroyed, Nyxly's vengeance is coming fast and swift! We know from the preview that there is some kind of bubble that appears around National City and perhaps Supergirl made a mistake destroying the totem because she has to issue a public apology! ...except that Lex's return was inevitable, and IS integral to the overall arc. One should keep in mind that he's the one who actually freed Nyxly, by using Kara as his unwitting proxy in the Phantom Zone. Betting that Lex may also have a contingency plan for an non-unified All Stone as well... :)

I wasn't referring to Maeve and Nia, although it was hard to express my legit excitement for that story resolving while also throwing shade on the unwanted subplot (meaning, Nyxly and Lex together). That's why I spelled out everyone who the subplot DOESN'T involve!
Suspect that the series didn't want to spoil Lex's return too early, even though the EPs had already blabbed about it in a recent interview. Now we have a certified visual confirmation.
