I Believe In A Thing Called Love Synopsis

It's been a race for the totems and thus far, Supergirl's been able to grab one, and Nyxly has been able to keep one. We know from other episode synopses that the Dream and Hope totems are next in line for the dueling teams but let's take a look ahead to the fourth to last episode of Supergirl ever and see who's making a big return! While Nyxly's empathy was too much to handle, it seems the characters will be facing something crazier: love. Mix in Lex Luthor and you have a fascinating twist to the mix and team Supergirl will have to face off against their two greatest foes, united at the same time! Read the full synopsis for yourself below:

LEX RETURNS – When Lex Luthor (guest star Jon Cryer) appears by Nyxly’s (Peta Sergeant) side, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team must deal with the emotional fallout of facing their two biggest foes at the same time. Alex (Chyler Leigh) makes plans for the perfect proposal to Kelly (Azie Tesfai), but work keeps getting in the way. The episode was directed by Jesse Warn and written by Dana Horgan & Nicki Holcomb (#617). Original airdate 10/26/2021.

it bothers me that they might use Alex's wedding as the Series Finale, that should have happened much earlier in this season and then focused back on Supergirl.
Who said Alex and Kelly will get married in the finale? This synopsis implies they’ll get engaged but that’s not a wedding.

it wouldn't surprise me. cw shows have a tendency to move couples along pretty fast sometimes

I actually think Lexly [Nyxlex?] could be the ultimate power couple. I'm expecting it to be an over-the-top campy pairing. I'm sure the episode will set up the pairing and just not have Lex turn up "in love" without explanation. I think it sounds like a really fun episode. Fingers crossed ?!

People there’s a love totem which is what I’ll bet explains any feelings Lex has. This is what Jessica Queller actually said.

"Lex is not only returning, but he's finally going to fall in love with a character who is his equal, who might be named Nyxly [Peta Sergeant]," co-showrunner Jessica Queller tells EW with a laugh.

There’s nothing that says the romance isn’t completely totem induced or that it lasts. I can see a working relationship between Nyxly and Lex. Lex probably has been reading William’s stories and manages to find Nyxly. How many times have we been intentionally misled by a synopsis over the years and my guess is they’re only going to get shorter and vaguer.

i don't buy it for a couple of reasons. number one is that lex doesn't love anyone but himself and number two is that he doesn't believe he has any equals especially not an alien. also i am glad alex has learned not to propose so fast. alex proposed to maggie after knowing her less than a season and that didn't turn out so well. this is still pretty fast but not as fast

Yeah, work relationships can become rather complicated when the two competing lovebirds want to kill you. :)

So Lex just shows up without any buildup whatsoever? I rolled my eyes at Lex and Nyxly being announced to have a romantic connection, but to have it just happen without an explanation sounds even more dumb than the concept already sounds. Why would Nyxly just pick him up? And if there is some sort of buildup to it, why wouldn't Supergirl have noticed, if she is connected to Nyxly.

I have also really disliked what the show has essentially made Lex the most important villain of this show, having him return for three different seasons, basically taking Superman's villain, instead of having the main villain be somebody who is central to Supergirl and linked to her. But if they have to use him, I would at least see him used well. This just feels very scattershot.

If they have to use him, I would have preferred if it had been clear that he is working from behind the scenes and Team Supergirl actually makes concrete moves to try to investigate and stop him.

Well, we all knew that Lex was returning to the show. Maybe, just maybe, Lex and Nyxly will provide some entertaining stuff. Trying to be positive with this news. My hope is that Nyxly and Lex fall in love and are sent to the Phantom Zone for their honeymoon. :o
