I thought that it might be nice to have one place to discuss the character of Reign as we progress through this season. While I'm a bit sad about the character turning evil, I am very eager to see the extent that the writers will go with the villain. She has the possibility of being quite the formidable foe for Supergirl.
Perhaps we can start with some facts about her that we know at the moment and add to the list as we find out more details.
I'll start a list and I can add to it later. Even though the character exists in the comics, I thought that it might be better to keep those facts off the list until they present themselves as we're not sure what aspects the writers will use from her comic book counterpart. But, feel free to discuss any aspect of the character.
KNOWN DETAILS ON REIGN

Looks like from the pictures that Reign is going to try and play herself off as good ol' Sam....Yeah, my guess is that it's going to take a few episodes for SG to figure out that Reign is Sam. It'll be interesting to see what event gives Sam away because I think it is difficult to distinguish that Reign is Sam with the mask on; which is in contrast to Kara's "disguise"
.Thanks for that article, Kiwi. It was a good read. Right now, I am not rooting for the villain in the respect that I want Sam to re-emerge. Quite the opposite, actually. If Reign is played out for an extended time and is shown to be an almost unbeatable foe for SG during that time, then yes, at the end I will be rooting for Sam and SG. But, at the moment, I am rooting for her to live up to her potential as Reign.
So, I am going to assume that since Reign is of Krytponian origin, she is vulnerable to kryptonite, too, correct?

Looks like from the pictures that Reign is going to try and play herself off as good ol' Sam....
But we know from the trailer thats not quite right...because theres ominous music of Sam from the back while Ruby approaches her and Sam has the reign outfit under. Reign is pretty much just 'acting' the part of Sam I feel. We might find out if thats true tomorrow.
Makes me feel bad though, if Sam is awake at any level in there somewhere what is she thinking seeing herself forced to do bad things? (remember she wanted to be a hero like super girl and was excited to, but now will instead be her great enemy)

I like quote from the author of the article which is 100 percent right in my estimate

Thats my sentiments exactly. I want not only to be Supergirl vs Reign but also Sam vs Reign.

Im wondering how reign will react to ruby. It's possible she'll just ignore her, but I have a feeling that she'll hate her, seeing her as the annoying little creature that delayed her awakening.Yeah, not sure that we will see any type of sympathy or real love from Reign toward Ruby. But, I wonder if she will view Ruby as a possible protégé, having the World Killer genes within her, and be protective of her in that role.
Yeah in the video it was shown that Ruby was still present in the household once Reign had returned 'home'. I have this fear that Reign will trick Ruby somehow telling her that she's going to take a fun drive n the desert but really try to take her to the fortress to see if she could be activated too.
(Or at the least take guardianship of her until she turns 18 then take her to the desert to try to see about the activation)
But if anyone will figure out that theres something wrong/off about Reign it will be Ruby since she's very close to her mom and would be able to tell if Reign was pretending to be Sam.

Yeah its probably just Reign pretending to be Sam. Im kind of worried because this means that if Reign later discovers Kara is Supergirl....it will kind of be like season 1 of the Flash where Thawne was among them the whole time and just one step ahead of Barry the entire time. Also she might try to make it hard for Kara at work too.I'm okay with Reign being just one step ahead of Supergirl for awhile. It sets the stage for more suspense and intrigue as we progress through the rest of the season. It also makes Reign more realistic as a threat.

The new trailer for Reign is out, and it looks like I was right about Reign pretending to be sam. She has a really 'cold' look on her face when walking through the office and also appears to be ignoring Ruby. Also the shirt rip was pretty cool!

Yep, totally forgot about Lena, who is also a kickass businesswoman and friend to Kara. I have to disagree with the article, as much as I’m loving Odette Sam/Reign shouldn’t be redeemed. Sometimes the villain is just that and Worldkiller is her destiny.
Exactly, she was created to be a World Killer and that should be her endgame. If they redeem her in the end, that will be a full on disrespect to this fantastic SUPERGIRL villain.

I really feel bad for Sam and Ruby and do kind of wish they could find a place for Odette after Reign is defeated because she does a wonderful job.
Yeah I can think of maybe 2 things...
1. , they could get Odette to play a grown up Ruby if/when the legion takes her to the future or something happens later on to age her up? Would be easier if they said some stuff like Ruby is genetically identical to Sam or something.
2. They could do something like they did with Slade on Arrow. Throw her in prison or something after the genetics activation or whatever wears off. Then we see Slade in season 6 sort of working with Oliver after he's recognized to be more or less 'normal' again. (for this I'm thinking the phantom zone)
And I agree "you are my heart" will come back to haunt the evil scientists.

Kelly, I agree with you that it isn't really brainwashing; it really is a genetic issue. And if the question is whether or not they will be able to get through to Sam in some way, then we may be looking at a nature vs. nurture conundrum.
In regards to that: I think that we have seen a great deal of foreshadowing involving the uncertainty of being human or alien. That topic has pretty much been Kara's go to line in some form in almost every episode. Now we have Sam finding out she's human but, commenting about being a good person and her connection to Ruby.
I really feel bad for Sam and Ruby and do kind of wish they could find a place for Odette after Reign is defeated because she does a wonderful job.

Rewatching right now.
"Do you feel that?"
"Your pulse?"
"You are my heart."
That just struck me. I think it's interesting, perhaps a slight foreshadow that, in the end, Ruby will somehow help Sam be redeemed. Reign/Sam may still die in the end, but die as Sam... not Reign... because Ruby was the one thing unforeseen by the scientists.
I think it was to parallel with Kara's line, "Shame on me for having a human heart".
I think both of those lines will come into play later.
