Oh man.... to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room with Melissa and Kara Lindsay. If you don't know much about Kara, go YouTube some of her Think Pink video blogs for Broadway.com. She's hilarious. Her and Melissa together? Bah ha ha ha ha

Melissa was at the annual pet adoption event sponsored by Broadway Barks which is an animal welfare organization founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters. Here's some pictures, I want that shirt she's wearing. https://celebmafia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/melissa-benoist-broadway-barks-animal-adoption-event-in-new-york-07-14-2018-5.jpg

Someone was very naughty, it’s a big no no to use a camera during a Broadway show. Anyone seeing the show don’t do this. The last time I caught a show in NY, admittedly a few years ago, there was a warning that doing what this person did would result in an usher asking you to leave.

That warning being given what done is done and it’s interesting to see these short bits.

Yeah. I've been to a few shows on Broadway. Was at Wicked before the show started, and was merely taking a selfie with friends up in the balcony. Now, I've done this same thing at several other shows with no problem. But this Wicked usher, who I suspect was perhaps new, or....just mean... Yelled at me and wanted me to delete all my pictures. Needless to say.... I did not. lol

It was a good interview. You can tell Melissa really likes to keep her private life private, and with good reason.

I remember she once said that performing as a character is usually pretty comfortable, but doing public performances or interviews as herself is quite uncomfortable. I think that may be pretty common.

Ryan Reynolds said something similar. He deals with a lot of anxiety, but puts on a "character", very close to what he does for Deadpool, when he's doing interviews. It helps him keep that separation and beat the anxiety.

I speak in front of my students with no problem, I've performed in Musical Theater my entire life and have had no problems with jitters.....but when I have to speak or sing in front of my peers I have HUGH ANXIETY. It is horrible...and people don't understand it because they think that if you have no problem performing in front of 1000s you should be able to speak in front of a few 100....that isn't the problem, when performing you aren't "yourself" you are "someone else"....even singing live I feel that way, but in front of my peers its scary.

Kelly, I did not even know you did some singing. Now, I of course have Generalized Anxiety Disorder along with Autism Spectrum Disorder and am taking medicine for it. When I was in my church's choir before it got disbanded mainly due to the death of its longtime priest, sometimes my director Jennifer would ask me to do a solo. Despite me having other members of the group it seemed like i would panic. But Jennifer was there to help me through.

Want to know something crazy? There is only one song that I would have no trouble being at least a lead vocal on...our National Anthem. Though my voice is tenor, I might sing it like the late great opera singer Robert Merrill did before New York Yankees baseball games back in the day.

I think anxiety can be crippling. I can understand the idea of putting on a persona for interviews. But I have also known some well known people in show business and they really want to keep their private lives private. I respect that about Melissa, especially when we have a lot of people who just throw it out there.

She probably has a small group of people outside of family in which she can be herself. As fans, it can be difficult to separate the character from the real person. Then there is always the gossip. So I truly admire on how she handles herself. She comes across as a genuinely nice individual, but protects the essential Melissa from prying eyes.

Hey, RobertAnthony....

Are you aware of this....

"Tamsen Fadal PIX11: Sunday on #BroadwayProfiles @TheCWSupergirl’s @MelissaBenoist tells us about playing @Carole_King in @BeautifulOnBway! It all starts Sunday at 6PM only on @PIX11News"?

Did not know about this. By the way, Tamsen Fadal is one of the main news anchors on PIX11 News, especially the news at ten.

Kara Lindsay is returning to play the role of Cynthia Weil in Beautiful from July 12. Of course with a first name of Kara it's totally appropriate she performs with Melissa for 3 weeks.

Melissa will be performing at Bryant Park in NYC on Thursday July 19, the event is hosted by 106.7 LITE FM, not sure if they simulcast it on the station (Lite FM 106.7).

I don't think WLTW, which is 106.7 Lite FM, would air it on the station, one of the NYC's most successful. But maybe something could come up on its website or social media. The many DJs will promote this event as it gets closer.

We'll, for sure, be getting video of her performance at Bryant Park. Youtube is filled with past performances from that event :D

LOVE Kara Lindsey. Was just thinking yesterday how bummed I'd be if I went or Beautiful and just barely missed getting to see Melissa AND Kara.

Fantastic interview. Thanks for the find, Kelly. It was one of those kinds of calming interviews I wish I had been listening to in the car on a long stretch of road during sunset

There should be plenty of red eye flights to accommodate Melissa for SDCC. With respect to the question of AK’s impact, I believe the current show runners do not have the feel for Supergirl that their predecessors did. Ali Adler had a great influence in Season 1. Her departure, imho, hurt the show. I am hoping that Sara Schecter getting more involved will help.

BTW: I am insanely jealous of whoever got the stage tour or was able to meet Melissa backstage. However, sitting by the orchestra, I was fairly confident that they and not Melissa were pulling the strings. (Pun intended :D)

Aaaaaaaawwe! I just love this...

That was so sweet from Chyler, in a word it was Beautiful. I love that she calls Melissa "sis" twice :) .

I am going to appreciate Melissa more than ever in Season 4. If she does indeed resume filming on August 7 and gets straight back into those 16/17 hour days so we can have her normal screen-time (about 20 mins currently) in the 1st few episodes then that will be a Supergirl effort from her. As I've mentioned before I'd be happy with Kara Danvers only scenes in say the 1st 3 episodes if that helps ease Melissa's workload. Hopefully will get some confirmation @ SDCC (I wonder if Melissa will look tired at SDCC, her Friday night performance of Beautiful would finish about 11pm then presumably she'd have to catch an early Saturday morning flight (6 or 7am) from NYC to San Diego and it's a fairly full on day at the Con).

They might have get her a private plane and she could sleep comfortable...

@evrafter I see Alex as director providing a lot of potential for sister interaction and not just at the DEO itself. I would like to see Alex struggling a bit with her new job. How will she feel trying to leave field work to others, I don’t think that will be as easy as she thinks. Alex has some big shoes to fill, will she struggle with running things as she sees fit rather than doing things exactly as J’onn did. Kara will obviously be Alex’s right hand but perhaps the sisters butt heads a bit with how to run the DEO. All this plus why Alex feels the need to rush into adoption could provide lots of good material. Kara is of course going to come face to face with another version of herself and I’m sure she’s gonna need her sisters support with that.

@Kelly, we’ll probably never truly know the impact tha AK’s rightfully being fired had. I think there was definitely rushed/bad editing in the back half. I’m really looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes when the Blu-Ray comes out.

Just read a terrific Twitter thread from @_ashleymaria_ concerning her experience seeing Beautiful. If you have twitter... Go check it out. Things to note, as I suspected... the strings in the piano are removed...

"A little background info from Stacey the stage manager from the stage tour. Got a look at the piano; totally taken apart and modified to be played by the actor with no sound, speakers being attached to it so that the orchestra pit can perform the songs."

Here's the possible concerning part:

"Stacey had also said that she finishes the show on August 4th, has two days off and then returns to Vancouver to film on August 7th. It didn’t sound like she was going to be flying back and forth to film in July? I dunno, at least that’s what it sounded like to me."

What day did someone on here report or hypothesized shooting began, again, for season 4? Probably nothing to worry about--as in, we shouldn't worry about whether or not Melissa will play a "lesser role" first episode of Season 4. Just play more Kara for easier filming lol. Right? Plus, by the looks of it from ending of last episode, Melissa's gonna be doing a LOT next season.

I still do not believe that we are going to have any early episodes of Supergirl that are Supergirl lite....I do not believe for one second that with all the changes happening, especially the move to Sunday night and the obvious influx of new fans from Melissa's Broadway time that they are going to have Supergirl/Kara/Melissa absent in any degree from the first episodes. I have complete faith that the cast and crew will make this work. Looking forward to Season 4.
